I'm legitimately excited to study in Butler again...somehow I've forgotten the countless hours I suffered there during UG

I dunno how I'm going to feel about Butler considering I spent countless hours there this past summer studying for the LSAT. I'm probably going to end up cursing the very place that (supposedly) led me back there for late night sessionsfrancesfarmer wrote:I'm legitimately excited to study in Butler again...somehow I've forgotten the countless hours I suffered there during UG

even the most beautiful buildings become intolerable and hideous after you've developed a long and unpleasant history with them. i didn't feel like the law library was that dismal...even if it is, a dungeon of learning might as well look the part.leeway89 wrote:I dunno how I'm going to feel about Butler considering I spent countless hours there this past summer studying for the LSAT. From what I can see online, the Columbia law library is horrid and lifeless. No decor. Crappy dorm room-esque chairs. Cheap wooden cubicles. Disgusting carpets. I'm sure you will be able to feel the life, youth, and sanity seep from you studying in this horrifyingly bland hell hole.EquallyWrong wrote:even the most beautiful buildings become intolerable and hideous after you've developed a long and unpleasant history with them. i didn't feel like the law library was that dismal...even if it is, a dungeon of learning might as well look the part.leeway89 wrote:I dunno how I'm going to feel about Butler considering I spent countless hours there this past summer studying for the LSAT. Edit: Seriously, this is so depressing

I give this ALL the sad faces.

You guys have all of NYC. Go to the Manhattan public library on 40th, for instance; go to cafes; go to a park. There are also other schools that I think you may be able to get in through the Columbia id.

Most def, sorry I didn't mean to just complain unnecessarily. I plan on doing most of my studying in coffee shops or in Butler anyway, would just have been nice if Columbia's law library was nicer.Theopliske8711 wrote:You guys have all of NYC. there are obviously dozens of libraries and potential study spots around the campus we can chose from or cycle through, but I guess we're all in agreement that we won't be caught dead in the law library...except maybe on Halloween when we convert it to a haunted house.

not that I know of, not yet, but anyone wandering around that place in a cheap rubber mask would be pretty damn scary.almondjoy wrote:is this...is this a thing? because it sounds awesome.EquallyWrong wrote:there are obviously dozens of libraries and potential study spots around the campus we can chose from or cycle through, but I guess we're all in agreement that we won't be caught dead in the law library...except maybe on Halloween when we convert it to a haunted house.

Re: Columbia Class of 2017
I got mine in an email titled "Columbia Law School--Housing Information"...arrived 4 days after admit email. CUID/PID and sign up code included.pseu wrote:I haven't gotten any info about housing, and I can't do anything online because I don't have a housing code, PID, etc.
Should I have gotten this? This is super frustrating as I have heard nothing from Columbia after depositing - I've just been clicking around the site and finding things myself. My UNI works now, but I activated that on my own and did not get anything from them about it.
You should have definitely gotten it by now. Get it from them before the 15th if it isn't already buried in your inbox.

I mean, I don't find this a big deal. Its not a beautiful space but it works fine. You wont be nearly as concerned with the aesthetic as with how shitty your outline is when you're spending 8-10 hrs there cramming for finals. Or just study in your apartment lolmoopness wrote:From what I can see online, the Columbia law library is horrid and lifeless. No decor. Crappy dorm room-esque chairs. Cheap wooden cubicles. It was a conscious design decision. Helps prevent students from getting too prestigious too quickly.jbagelboy wrote: I mean, I don't find this a big deal. Its not a beautiful space but it works fine. Thanks, saw this right before your reply! It was buried in my folder with the informational emails. Still odd IMO that they haven't sent any sort of welcome email after depositing though.EquallyWrong wrote:I got mine in an email titled "Columbia Law School--Housing Information"...arrived 4 days after admit email. Now that we've deposited, they no longer need to court us. Just like that omelette station during ASW will be the last time we ever get free food from Columbia.iamgeorgebush wrote:i also find this odd...no "thx for your $600" or anything?pseu wrote:Thanks, saw this right before your reply!
