lol hold off on blazer and/or tie until you're meeting SFS person? I still think you don't need a suit to meet someone from SFS who will most likely not be anywhere as dressed up...wtrc wrote:So I think I am going to try and meet with someone from SFS on Monday (special circumstances re finances etc.). For that I'd prefer to dress up a bit. But I also will feel WAY too gunnery wearing a suit to ASW. What to do, what to do.

Does SFS stand for Student Financial Services? If so, I definitely don't see a point in dressing up. In fact, I'd wear my crappiest clothes, not bathe for a week, and then come with literal hat (scruffy newsboy, natch) in hand. Then just ask, "Please, sir, can I have some more aid?" ..I have years of training from undergrad.

Amateur move. They should be able to see the half empty bag of stale Dollar Store bread in the hole-ridden bag in which you are clearly carrying your life's possessions.neprep wrote:FTFYTheMostDangerousLG wrote:Does SFS stand for Student Financial Services? HLS is supposed to be more generous than other need based awards from T14 right? I got a pretty generous need based amount from Penn today (they seperately stated an amount for merit and amt for need based, though I don't know how real this distinction is because they only gave me 5k/year for merit...)

Maybe. If I remember correctly, UMich doesn't take parental resources into consideration, and I think there was a slight difference between how Y and H calculated parental resources. So you might not get as strong of an offer from H depending on how they calculate finaid.paglababa wrote:HLS is supposed to be more generous than other need based awards from T14 right? Anyone know what the best source is for apparel? My wife wants a Harvard hoodie and since I'm gonna buy it anyway I'd prefer it not be just a cheap screen print onto thin material. Yes I realize this is a ridiculous question.

There's a coop in the law school building and it has some great stuff. Especially for woman. (Yes, I already scoped it out). Granted this only helps if you can get to campus. They have some stuff online but it's pretty gender neutral and not as nice.Pneumonia wrote:Anyone know what the best source is for apparel? +1 for the Coop. It's got better apparel (not cheapy) than the most of the other Harvard square shopspolitics89 wrote:There's a coop in the law school building and it has some great stuff. So if I'm understanding correctly their in-store selection is bigger/better than online, so I should probably just wait until ASW rather than order online? Thanks btw. At my uni the Coop is universally terrible so I wasn't sure how H's was. Glad to know they have good quality stuff.

Agreed. They had a serious lack of good law school stuff in the Harvard Square one though. Pro tip: save your $ for the one actually in the law buildingnabadgelyo wrote:+1 for the Coop. ETA: I would definitely wait to be on campus rather than order online.

JS, it would be extremely difficult to say no to HLS if I had a Harvard hoodie hanging in my closet.Pneumonia wrote:+1 is it hoodies?t-14orbust wrote:What kind of swag are they giving out at ASW?

Hey guys, so for reasons I don't care to get into, I ban myself from facebook periodically, which means I haven't even looked at the Harvard 2017 fb group.
SO I was just wondering, on this admitted students weekend that's about two days away... are there, like, sleeping arrangements? I should probably know the answer to this by now.

Has anyone used this for anything not related to admissions yet? Every time I think about it the intelligent voice in my head screams "NO. Do NOT be that guy."The-Specs wrote:+1,000Pneumonia wrote: As if getting an @harvard.edu email address isn't already impossibly difficult to say no to.

If I'm being honest with myself, a sweatshirt will probably be purchased this weekend. I've always wanted to own a school sweatshirt and just never got around to it..t-14orbust wrote:JS, it would be extremely difficult to say no to HLS if I had a Harvard hoodie hanging in my closet.Pneumonia wrote:+1 is it hoodies?t-14orbust wrote:What kind of swag are they giving out at ASW?
But.. it proooobably won't be worn in public outside of Cambridge. I feel like if you wear Harvard garb anywhere else people are going to think you're a tool (and, likely, not a Harvard student). But maybe this is something I just something I need to get over. Thoughts, my beautiful peers?

Are you gonna / have you emailed them, or is there a time to meet with them on Monday or are you just gonna walk in and see what happens? I don't have the schedule in front of me right now but I also want to meet with someone from SFSwtrc wrote:So I think I am going to try and meet with someone from SFS on Monday (special circumstances re finances etc.).
