Edit: On the other hand, I still haven't taken care of the whole "somewhere to live" thing

Do you at least have something in the works?Serett wrote:I just did it, since I'm going out of town this weekend. Do I win default gunner status, or is someone else yawning in the background because s/he completed it two days ago?

Same, lost my attention once they said "not graded."retaking23 wrote:I ventured a little further and actually opened the PDF to look for when the assignment is due: Sunday 11:59 PM. Which basically means I can slack for a few more days
Kind of. I've definitely been looking and in touch with various complexes and people looking for roommates. Garrett West changed their offered prices from when I applied months ago to when they finally offered rooms, Ticon Properties was slow answering my questions, and when I followed up after a few days without hearing anything, they no longer had the unit available. I've half-decided to abandon my 1BR delusions and just nut up for a roommate, but I'm wary about the process of blind roommating and have been selective in my outreach. One guy was supposed to get back to me last week and still hasn't, while I just told another I'd take the room after about a week delay since he sent apartment pictures (so no clue if it's still open).Jules239 wrote:Do you at least have something in the works?Serett wrote:I just did it, since I'm going out of town this weekend. Aug 1st is fast approaching. I'd piggyback on a roommate who's started the process/ has an apartment since you're in such a time crunch.Serett wrote:Kind of. I'm not terribly worried because there seem to be plenty of grad students/professionals looking for roommates on DukeList, and the more questionably reviewed 1BRs in Durham seem to have availability. It's just a matter of if/when I have to settle on something less than what I ideally want, although that time is fast approaching since I want to move on August 1st. At the moment, I'm waiting on emails from three different people/places, and if they either don't come or aren't available, then I guess I just move onto the next best options and repeat later today.

gl. I'm sure you'll be fine, though.Serett wrote:Yeh, the individuals I'm reaching out to are already people who have apartments but need to fill a room on DukeList, so once I find someone, the process should be relatively immediate. The apartment complexes with availability are another story, but if they still have 1BR openings for August, they're getting as worried about filling them as I am.
If you have any complexes you're interested in, feel free to let me know. I'm currently in Durham scoping for a 1BR for Aug 5-14 move in, so I'm getting all the info I can. Already been to Pinnacle & Parc.Serett wrote:Yeh, the individuals I'm reaching out to are already people who have apartments but need to fill a room on DukeList, so once I find someone, the process should be relatively immediate. Sounds good, thanks for the offer! I've seen the major ones at ASW (Pinnacle, Parc, Garrett West, and...the one I always forget. Was it Century Trinity Estates?) and the definitely-out-of-my-price-range ones shown on the downtown Durham apartment tour at ASW (Heights at LaSalle, 605 West, another in-process complex, and the former warehouse apartments--the Lofts, maybe?). I also briefly stopped by Hawthorne at the View. I'm kind of wary of Beech Lake and Mission University Pines, among some others, based on reviews, but I haven't seen them in person (and am not sure it'd really help unless I saw the specific unit I would be leasing, since the model units are pictured enough but may not be representative).PB&J.D. wrote:If you have any complexes you're interested in, feel free to let me know. This one's definitely on my list.Serett wrote: One of the few that I was/am still tempted to jump on is Springfield Apartments. As of when I checked a few days ago (and according to the current info on their website), they have at least a few 1BR openings, and a 10-month lease can be had for as low as ~$715. That might be one worth checking out if it meets your needs.

I don't plan on living at PR, so I won't volunteer as first-choice, but if you don't find anyone at PR before then, PM me, and I'd be glad to come help (assuming I find an apartment of my own before thenaldiddy wrote:Hey all, I'll be moving into a 1BR in Pinnacle Ridge August 7th. Would anyone mind helping me carry 3-4 pieces of furniture up the stairs? I'll be using a pod-type-thing that is dropped off with no movers. Only 1 of the pieces is actually heavy--the rest are just large. You will be rewarded a 6-pack (or equivalent goodness if that isn't your thing).
I missed the poll, but I'm in and ESPN>>>Yahoo Sports.SplitMyPants wrote:I made a new poll regarding this. I'll make a google spreadsheet or form when I'm putting off this case briefing to collect emails and such.
Thanks! I'll let you know if I can't find someone who lives at Pinnacle Ridge within the next couple of weeks. Count me in. Even if my Vikings have another terrible year, my fantasy team will hopefully have a... slightly better season!SplitMyPants wrote:More important than the fast approaching start date of law school is the almost as quickly approaching start of the NFL season.

I'd be happy to help otherwise, but I don't move into my 1BR at Pinnacle Ridge until the following Monday.aldiddy wrote:Hey all, I'll be moving into a 1BR in Pinnacle Ridge August 7th. My one, hard rule in fantasy football is that I don't draft players from my own (disappointing) teamgta wrote:Count me in.
