Re: Duke Class of 2017
I was jogging this morning and an RC passage from my LSAT studying randomly popped into my head. Then I realized how much has happened in the year since I started studying for that. It reminded me relieving it is to have committed to Duke and have the months of indecision behind me!

Re: Duke Class of 2017
Hey everybody. Apologies for ducking in here. For anybody who is definitely attending Duke as a member of the class of 2017: I work for a startup that operates online case briefing and networking tools for law students. We're currently looking for a campus rep for the upcoming school year. The pay is good and the work is minimal. If you think you'd be interested in chatting with me about this, or talking with one of our current reps, shoot me a PM.

Thanks for the info guys, that's a relief! One question: did turning the records in late hold up your Duke financial aid? Thanks!slackademic wrote:This is credited. I mean, you gotta deal with it obviously, but don't feel too panicky if you can't get a copy right away. As long as you get them within a few months, you'll be alright. (Unless they changed the policy between last year and now. If you have a letter from them saying "GET YOUR RECORDS IN OR NO DUKE FOR YOU" then ignore this.)

Re: Duke Class of 2017
Well everyone, I have mixed emotions about it, but I will no longer be attending Duke. I had a surprise last minute HLS wait list acceptance, and based on my goals, I have to accept. I fell in love with Duke, and I'm sure you are all going to have an amazing three years there. Good luck and go blue devils!
With that being said, is there anyone who would like to take over the OP?

How quickly have people heard back after submitting an app to Pinnacle Ridge?

Re: Duke Class of 2017
It took them about 4-5 days to email me back confirming they got it, but I think 2 of those were over the weekend. I followed up with them and haven't heard back from that in over a week now though, so I don't think they're too quick to communicate.carolinainmymind wrote:How quickly have people heard back after submitting an app to Pinnacle Ridge?

Garrett West has been a bit quiet, too. Maybe that's the style there? I'm accustomed to a pretty rapid process wherein the landlords are more than eager to get that lease signed. I can't say I'm worried given the abundance of suitable housing in the area, anyway.

Thinking about going with Avalon (Ticon Properties) for housing, anyone else there/have experience?

Re: Duke Class of 2017
My deposit and forms were received by the school today, so I am officially Duke class of 2017 (what a relief haha).
I'll likely be coming out to Durham to check out housing next month. Pinnacle Ridge seems to be pretty popular among 1Ls, but are there other nearby places I should check out? I'm hoping to move in the second week of August to give myself about a week before orientation.

The first three on the poll, plus Parc at University Tower, were the four that we all toured during ASW. There was another optional tour afterward of four more downtown Durham complexes, two of which aren't actually open yet. They're more convenient for walking/biking to the school, but starting rent for each was also $200-300 more than the others.PB&J.D. wrote:My deposit and forms were received by the school today, so I am officially Duke class of 2017 (what a relief haha).

Re: Duke Class of 2017
hey y'all!
Duke 2L here. First of all, welcome to Duke. If you're gonna law school I'd recommend you do it here.
Since I see you're talking housing I've got 2 tidbits:
1) Parc at University Tower is great. Lived there 1L year and highly recommend.
2) If you're an incoming female student who isn't committed to living in a big apartment complex, PM me - I'm trying to rent out the second bedroom in my townhouse and would love to rent to a fellow Duke law person.
Also, don't worry about your shots. I mean, get them the records and stuff, but don't stress about it. I didn't do them until September, and I was actually behind on my boosters and they didn't give me any trouble about it. The emails talk big game about kicking you out of school, but they won't actually do it.
