For the admitted students days, we have to find our own accomodations for the Thursday night going into Friday, or do they provide rooms?

I don't think they provide any kind of accommodations to begin with.

FWIW, I've notice elsewhere on TLS that at least 2 applicants received more aid to Michigan than I did, but less aid to NYU than I did. I opted for merit-only at NYU, which may lend some credence to LS22's theory. Maybe?

Got my scholarship offer (applied merit-only) and was pretty disappointed since it was a big fat goose egg. I was expecting at least something with GPA>75 and LSAT between median and 75th.

Hmm, that is disappointing, mostly for you, but also for people like me closely watching scholarship offers from schools I'm considering. I wonder how much need factors into a typical NYU offer, since you were merit only, and with good stats.

0? That's messed up. Try negotiating with other offers if you have them?

You are meant to negotiate. Try will try and low ball you at first. Trust me, they know you're worth with your stats.

Am I supposed to negotiate even if I was happy with my offer? Obviously I would love even more $, but I'm not exactly sure what I'm worth given my stats (173, 3.8x at top UG, also admitted to CLS), and $62.5k is nothing to complain about

I would. If I had leverage.

Wow! That's frightening...how long ago did you send in your aid app?

Yeah ... I have one scholarship offer in the T14 so far from Michigan so I can use that. Is there a timeframe when I should start negotiating?

I know data points are slim and I saw that wonderful post a few pages back highlighting LSN's RTK numbers over the years, but is the consensus that named scholarships are almost always full-ride? Are they ever/often significantly less? And does being a finalist give you any leverage with other schools on its own? If I got one I doubt I'd turn it down, but it'd be nice to generate some leverage early on the remote chance that I got lowballed on a named scholly. I also hear you can kind of count on Deans' Scholarships if you don't get a named one (this is part of why I thought being a finalist might offer some leverage), and this is something I'd be more likely to decline if I could get a comparable/better offer, say, across the park... Maybe this is all just wishful thinking.

Oh, PS, checking in and looking forward to seeing some of you in March! Assuming all goes well for all of us, are we down for turning this into a roommate hunting thread come July?

Similar situation - received an offer of ZERO aid today. LSAT at 75th, GPA at median. Brutal.

Anyone have past experience with this? I hate to say it, but this is really crushing my desire to attend.

Yeah, I'm a true-blooded 0L, but dang there seems to be a big difference between 0 and a low-ball offer. I mean, how high above zero can one realistically expect to negotiate? There seems to be (in my mind) a big difference from starting at zero, and starting with a low scholarship.

I mean, I knew I wasn't going to get 25k a year, but no money is a kick in the gut.

Not cool, NYU, not cool.

Same here. GPA at median, LSAT>75th and no money at all.

I applied both need-based and merit, so it really was a surprise.

Not sure if negotiating would change things very much when you're starting from 0.

Got my aid offer today. I'm going to need about 10k more a year to consider attending, but I don't have any other offers to negotiate with.

Your Stanford acceptance is definitely a bargaining chip.

Has anyone been waiting for their scholly offer for longer than two or three weeks?

I got my aid offer today and I'm surprised by how much I received considering that most of the other people on TLS seem to have been lowballed. I was really preparing myself to be disappointed but i'm really happy now. (Above median GPA, above 75th LSAT)

I just want decisions from all my other apps so I can really begin considering and comparing my options.

edit: I should mention that I applied for merit aid only

75th GPA, just below 75th LSAT, applied for merit and need, got $0. I'm pretty pissed off right now. They're like "this is what we expect your annual contribution to be, and here is the gap between the most amount of Stafford loans you can get and your annual contribution and it is more than you've ever earned in a year while working full-time." Looking pretty unlikely that I'm going to NYU at this point.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
