I have some, and I will be renting out my condo, so that will help as well. But with COA at $81k per (plus interest) it doesn't make a huge dent lol
You already got your merit offer right? Have you tried negotiating?
Interest starts accumulating on day 1 of your loan? So someone paying sticker at 81k/year will end up with ~300k in debt if nothing got paid while in school?
$81k per year (inflated each year at a 3.5% inflation rate) would come to $300,978 at graduation.

This is why I tell people to be REALLY careful before choosing HYS at sticker over a T6 (or even T14 if your goals are east coast biglaw) with good $$.

I'm really considering moving in with my parents, at least for the first year. I have basically no savings, outside of a few thousand that I would rather just spend on a trip to Europe before 1L than just waste on rent anyway. I feel a bit too old for this, but even with solid scholly from CN, I am thinking that an hour commute to the city might be worth it.

Stress relieving sex and free rent? I would feel greedy.

Now would be the right time to start looking. Alternatively, no sex and free rent at home an hour away, which I'm not sure is worth the savings...

This. It would take a lot for me to choose Columbia over NYU now.

NYU seems to be opposite of Columbia in nearly every way, short of them both being in NYC. NYC was super fast and predictable, CLS super slow and weird.

If I were choosing a LS based solely on the good-natured feel of my interactions with them, I'd be NYU bound for sure.
Sadly my money tree I ordered from the Philippines never sprouted, worst 9.95 I ever spent.

Hopefully NYU can make it financially viable for you.

I'm getting antsy with deadlines and schools lagging. AJD @ NU has deposit deadline sometime in March. Just found out H won't be releasing any awards until Mid March. Hoping to lock down NYU and Penn $ numbers before all of this.
2 weeks turnaround you say?

I noticed something in another thread about earlier deadlines once you had submitted aid information, but then that it was pushed back. Is that the case? I haven't e-stalked anyone's posts enough yet to know the truth.

"Notification of awards will begin in mid-February and will be sent by email to the address you listed in your completed financial aid application. Your award may be delayed if we need additional information from you during our review of your application or if you are being considered for a named scholarship that requires an interview."
Err looks not if you're a finalist for a named scholly.
Also, has anyone on TLS received word of AnBryce yet?

lol, if only. I've been half-hoping that I don't get an award notice e-mail without an interview request, and half-hoping that the silence from NYU just doesn't mean I'm SOL on all counts :S
No word on AnBryce from what I can tell.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
