Also, I really liked Alaris. It seemed like an great place to live for its price.
Awesome, I like me some ping pong.
Thanks for the opinion on Alaris. Too bad I live so far. I don't want to throw away my spot at Crowne Polo on something I haven't seen with my own eyes but coming to see it won't be an option until I move up basically... Tough decision.

Nope, I'm in Florida working fulltime so I was hoping to not have to spend any time/money travelling to WS before the Fall. You? I would love some feedback if you do attend house hunt or plan to visit.
apb10, have you seen any apartments that stack up to the crownes or alaris near Wake? Where are you looking to move into?

I want to go but I also work full time in Florida -- and I just don't have the time or money right now. I know there's one user on here who got an apartment at Alaris. She's on the Wake fb page. PM me and I'll give you her deets.

Not yet. Deposited but I'm still awaiting decisions from Arizona and Davis.

Not going to the house-hunt, but I will be going up the weekend prior to find a place to live.
Because....I know you've all been dying to know if I'd be at house-hunt.

I'll probably be at house hunt even though I'm almost set on housing at one of the Crowne properties (most likely Polo). I'm looking forward to heading back there and settling in.
I checked out a lot of complexes when I was in Winston Salem. Deacon's Station was nice as they rent out fully furnished town homes. I can't remember the prices, but the complex was really nice. I was impressed with it as well.
The Corners seemed a good place to live at a cheaper cost. It's facilities and apartments, however, aren't as new as those of Crownes or Alaris. Bethabara Trails was a smaller complex a little further away from school. It was nice as well and cheaper than some of the other complexes. It felt a little quieter there and I believe it had some trails around the complex.
Crowne and Alaris were my favorites over the rest, but I'd honestly live in any of the ones I mentioned here. Each complex felt like a safe and clean environment. I'm living in the Crownes because I figured it important to be comfortable at least for my first year. It's most similar to my living situation now and I like being close enough to the school where I can just bike the way there.

Be careful with Deacon's Ridge. I haven't heard good things.

Anyone have experience biking in the areas around campus? I know many of the complexes are within biking distance, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's feasible to bike there if you're risking your life to go to class every day. I didn't really look for them while I was there, but I didn't notice many bike lanes and/or sidewalks leading up to campus along some of the busier roads.

Crowne Oaks, Deacon Station, and Deacon Ridge are the most feasible in that regard. Biking from Crowne Polo will require you to take Silas Creek Parkway (which is a four-lane highway that is fast moving and often busy). Taking a look at Google Maps Street View should give you a better idea of what to expect.

I think there is a back trail from Crowne Polo, but I'm not 100%. I remember the girl there telling me there was a trail or something so you wouldn't have to go on Silas.

I heard the same. That's why I was thinking it was feasible. I also remember hearing a representative from Crowne Polo mentioning back trails to the school. I really hope so.

After possibly the most difficult decision I've ever faced (which is kind of pathetic haha) I withdrew from Wake Forest! It's a great school, beautiful area, but just not right for me. That's 66k back out there so good luck guys, I'm sure you'll have a blast!

So when do we get assigned sections and get schedules? I can see the potential classes but now I really want to know what professors I got. I guess it might take waiting until the orientation to find out. Any thoughts?

Yeah, we won't find out our sections until orientation, maybe a few days before. The next few weeks we should be getting our e-mail accounts as well as the summer reading info though.

Was it confirmed that orientation lasted the whole week?
