Re: 2023-2024 Post-Clerkship Hiring
I applied to JD Boston a long time ago, accepted a position elsewhere, and withdrew my other applications. I got an email ding (no interview) about a month ago, but idk if that’s because I withdrew. No clue what’s going on there.

Sorry last question, how long after you withdrew did you receive the ding?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 1:27 pmI applied to JD Boston a long time ago, accepted a position elsewhere, and withdrew my other applications. Re: 2023-2024 Post-Clerkship Hiring
DJ clerk checking in...is NYC litigation hiring still very sluggish for everyone? Feels like no one is advertising for post-clerkship positions. Of the ones that are, I haven't gotten a single cold interview from just applying. Every conversation I've had has been the result of a recruiter or a strong reference. Three post-interview rejections (1 after a boutique screener that wasn't a good fit, 1 after final rounds where there was one very specific position open that they wanted more firm experience for, 1 after final rounds where who knows why). I'm currently waiting to hear back from PW after final rounds and am optimistic/still within the normal time window, but if that doesn't pan out I have no leads. I don't really want to go back to my summer firm but if I don't have any other options I may have to. And even then I'm not 100% positive they have a spot for me given that I haven't been in contact since Summer 2021.
My judge is shocked how slow it's been for me and my co-clerk. I reached out to her old firm with the referral of her friend two weeks ago and haven't even heard anything from them. And the firms I talk to seem to think I'm inundated with options. So I don't get what's up. Just not how I saw it going at all and wanted to vent.

Litigation has been brutal in Boston and my new York contacts say and said the same thing for last two cycles. It's crazy.

100% agree. I’m a bankruptcy clerk in a major jurisdiction (SDNY/DE/SDTX) and it’s brutal for us too. I’m absolutely shocked

I'm an appellate clerk, and it's been shockingly rough here too. Insane!

SDNY clerk here, received 3 interviews and 2 offers. All of the other SDNY clerks I know have received 1-2 offers as well. Not so bad. Just apply broadly and keep grinding.

Re: 2023-2024 Post-Clerkship Hiring
I clerk for a DJ in California. Anecdotally, my co-clerks who applied to firms in Cali had much more success than those who applied to firms in other markets like NY/DC/Chicago. It seems logical that it would be more difficult to get a job with an out of market firm, but at the same time it's unexpected.

What were the general stats of you and the people who got offers. You said SDNY so I assume at least top 25% at T14 right or approximate?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 9:03 amSDNY clerk here, received 3 interviews and 2 offers. Above poster here. Must have manifested something because I found out yesterday I'm getting an offer! Started applying in January and it took this long. I went to a T20 (not a T14) and was in the top 25% and the other clerks I know with multiple offers went to a T40 and were also in the top 25% and I think they were all in law review as well. All of us had between 2-4 years of experience at V50 biglaw firms.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 7:32 pmWhat were the general stats of you and the people who got offers.
