competitiveness of federal appellate staff attorney positions
I assume this might vary some by circuit, but I'm trying to gauge whether its worth applying to some federal appellate staff attorney positions. I've been out of law school for a few years now (2015). I've clerked for fed dist, fed mag, and now, state supreme court. I really enjoy objective legal research and writing, so I dont really know if I want to work for a firm again(I did for a couple of years--non biglaw). I graduated from a UT/Vandy/UCLA type school, near the top 10%, but not quite there. I was a transfer student though. I did 1L at a third-tier law school and ranked in the top 6% of the class. So I kind of have impostor syndrome with some of these appellate positions. I didnt do law review. I did a secondary journal. I'm not published, but am open to engaging in some academic writing in the future. Thanks for any insight.
