Issues with files uploaded to OSCAR

Post by stevedubs » Wed Sep 04, 2019 11:30 am

I found out yesterday that all of the documents I uploaded to OSCAR were corrupted in some way, such that they no longer appear in my draft application packets. Apparently they've also been corrupted in the applications I've already sent, so judges can't see any of my application materials.

Anyone else dealing with this problem? Or should I just re-upload?

Same problem. I emailed them and they said they'd get back to me once the issue's resolved.

My problem is whether the judges and clerks know this, and whether my letters of recommendation have disappeared as well.

What a disgrace.

Just checked today, literally all of my documents have been corrupted. Might explain why I have been having better luck with paper apps. Does anyone have a sense of when they became corrupted? I remember checking as I was uploading in June and they were fine then.

Do our letters of recommendations need to be re-uploaded as well?

Apparently, any applications that were filed from 6/7 to 8/31 were corrupted. With mine, I couldn't see anything in my application packet past the cover sheet OSCAR generates. I tried to fix it just now with one application, but all that's visible now are the cover sheet, my cover letter, and my resume. Grade sheets and writing samples do not appear to have gone through.

They say they'll have "instructions for refiling" next week, and I'm just hoping the process isn't ridiculous.

They also say they've contacted chambers that were accepting applications during this period, but I mean... June is a long time ago.

True June was a while ago, but the corruption just happened over the Labor Day weekend. So the judges that were reviewing and hiring before this past week were seeing everything that had been uploaded if that is your concern.

Spoke with OSCAR support on the phone today. Apparently, the process for re-filing is literally to just delete and re-upload everything. You can’t just re-upload the file, or at least I couldn’t; I had to delete and recreate all of the documents. That includes redoing your grade sheets. THEN you have to go through each submitted application and replace each document with the new ones. How efficient.

Also, your recommendations may be corrupted (mine were), so I’d get in touch with your CDO and ask them to re-upload those too. My CDO didn’t even know this happened, so guess who’s hero of the week. /s

What if the position expired (and therefore you can not actually re-upload the documents)?

What do you guys mean by reuploading recommendation letters? Do we have to delete our recommenders and add them again, as some of the recommenders seem to have the “auto upload” feature on when you add them to an application, or is it sufficient to just delete the app and add the already created recommenders again?
