I'm starting a magistrate clerkship in CDCAL/NDCAL/EDNY/SDNY in the fall, and have been applying for District/Circuit clerkships for literally the past year, but no dice. I knew the risks so I'm fine with that, but now I believe I'm going to be doing the job hunt instead. I looked up a lot of anecdotal things about opportunities for ex-magistrate clerks way back when on here when I first decided to take it, but didn't really see anything about how to go about the process. I've looked at previous post-clerkship hiring threads but everything is from district/circuit clerks so it's not necessarily helpful for me other than the general timeline.
Are there any former magistrate clerks on here that have advice for how to navigate the post-clerkship job search? I know some firms start as early as October, and most get really going by January/February, but is there anything specific to coming from a magistrate clerkship that I need to know?
