First, this is a judicial clerkships forum; you probably should direct your judicial externship/internship questions to the employment forum.
Second, I don't know anything about the CAFC, but judicial intern/extern hiring is generally judge-dependent. Some judges hire externs/interns; others don't. Hiring practices vary widely from judge to judge.
