Hello,
I've seen some information about timelines for applying, but was wondering if anyone can provide any insight as to when someone with a 1 year clerkship beginning this January should apply? I never really planned on clerking--it just sort of fell into my lap a month ish ago-- so I have no idea how this works. I started with my firm in Fall 2014 and would ideally like to come back, but I know there is no such thing as certainty with that. That being said, the partners and hiring partner at my firm encouraged me to pursue the clerkship and to check in six months into the clerkship, but what is customary when applying to other firms or government? Is there a cycle firms usually go through?
FWIW, I am clerking in a district court, in the district where I have practiced/would like to practice post-clerkship.
Thank you for any help! I'll admit, it's disconcerting to have no clue what this process is. I did not feel like this going through OCI.
Edit: I read the stickied thread with the links about hiring, but it seems most people started their clerkship in the Fall and I am curious if I would apply with those individuals or adjust for three months.
