Post clerkship hiring recently
How is post clerkship hiring recently? I read posts on here previously about issues with post-clerkship employment. I'm looking to break into big law, or at least a larger regional firm. I currently have a fed dist clerkship. To the extent it matters, I'm not sdny or anything "prestigious". No biglaw summer of 2l.

Litigation hiring is still pretty bad. Your best bet is to look at firms local to where your clerkship is. Are you looking for jobs out of state/region?

I'm open to most places. I graduated from UT; so I'm heavily targeting Texas. I had one interview for a v10-corp ironically-in Texas. Doubt it'll pan out but who knows. As far as my district: I'm not super excited about working here. But I do have an offer from a smallish firm in the district. I'd be more interested the more populated districts in my state. Sucks lit is still down.

The general rule for post clerkship hiring is that you won't be competitive for big law if you weren't competitive during your OCI. However, I know people who struck out during OCI but then landed big law positions after clerkships, so there is definitely hope... I would be very surprised if you couldn't find something in TX as a UT grad with a DC clerkship. Good luck!

Thanks! I graduated between top 11-15% but, and I have to add this, I did 1l at a ttt where I was ranked top 6%. I've previously secured interviews with high ranking vault firms outside of the oci process that didnt lead to offers. So I don't think my stats are prohibitive. It's more a matter of finding a firm looking for a clerk.
