Clerking in central islip - where do you live?
Does anyone have information on the logistics of where one can feasibly live if clerking in central islip? Do people live near there and drive in? Take a commuter rail from the city? -the court house seems just within walking distance. Just curious if people have stories. Thanks!

CI really sucks, but my god the LIRR every day from the city would be much worse. Not to mention be really expensive. Try to live on the South Shore, West Islip/Babylon/Islip. Not sure what the apartment situation is down there honestly but those are good places to live that will be a lot less expensive than the city.
My source is growing up on LI. My parents currently live in Holbrook, not far east.

Interesting, thanks. What's "expensive" in terms of LIRR fares? They didn't seem too bad to me. I also think I could put up with anything for a year but haven't ever lived in New York before, but because of a significant other might not be able too far from the city.

if you don't mind saying, is this for 2017-18, and if so, which EDNY judge have you heard from?

Much of CI is actually legitimately dangerous. It's like the headquarters of MS-13 on LI.Anonymous User wrote:Interesting, thanks. What's "expensive" in terms of LIRR fares? I really don't know what a monthly fare on LIRR would be. It used to be $32 for one-time round trip tickets for me, but I'd imagine it's at least cheaper than that if you do it monthly.

agree with above poster, you cannot walk from train to courthouse. dangerous area and not really w/in walking distance. if you were living in the city you may be better off driving since you're heading opposite way of traffic, would still probably take a little under 2 hours each way though. maybe look into queens if you can't be too far from manhattan?

Traffic is still pretty bad on LIE going the other way, honestly. Obviously not as bad as the normal commute, but it would still not be a fun way to waste 3.5-4 hours every day.alclaw10 wrote:agree with above poster, you cannot walk from train to courthouse. dangerous area and not really w/in walking distance. if you were living in the city you may be better off driving since you're heading opposite way of traffic, would still probably take a little under 2 hours each way though. maybe look into queens if you can't be too far from manhattan?
