These types of questions have been beaten to death on this site but whatever, last day of work for the summer, kind of bored.
I start a fed. dist clerkship in Sept. 2015 in a flyover district. I am already thinking about post clerkship opportunities. Should I begin reaching out to firms now? I will be targeted biglaw, lit boutiques, and regional firms in my market. I know they may not know hiring needs this far in advance, but my cocnern is that I won't be able to go on many interviews during the actual clerkship because, well, I'll be clerking. (this is to the extent I can even get them, but I am ever the optimist)
I also am thinking about applying to some COA clerkships after this one. I plan on improving my grades to get in or near the top 10% at a pretty good school (UT/Vandy/UCLA). Will my fed dist clerkship provide an appreciable boost in the attractivness of my app?
