Does anyone know which Ninth Circuit judges, if any, have a strong alumni preference?
I am looking at 2016. Will have spent two years at a well-regarded firm by then, along with one year clerking in a (non-NDCA/CDCA) district within the Ninth.

I've heard that Callahan tends to hire folks with experience. Can't off the top of my head think of anyone else that has a strong preference for post-LS work experience. At any rate, you need to get apps out there ASAP for 2016. Many judges are filling up as we speak.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know which Ninth Circuit judges, if any, have a strong alumni preference?

Milan Smith in El Segundo has a heavy alumni preference, but he is also full for 2016 at this point.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know which Ninth Circuit judges, if any, have a strong alumni preference?

Judge Wallace in San Diego generally only hires alums, generally off prior clerkships. I would be surprised if he was full for '16 at this point, but I could be wrong.

I can confirm. But she wants a significant amount of experience. I know someone with 5 years who interviewed with her and ultimately was told he/she didn't have enough experience.Anonymous User wrote:I've heard that Callahan tends to hire folks with experience.
