Interview for 2014
3L here w/ biglaw offer that I've accepted. Just got an interview offer for a clerkship I applied to a while ago (District court). At this stage of the game, would the firm be pissed if i reneged? Or you think they would still be encouraging of it? It's a big firm with a ~90 person entering class for my office, so I'm inclined to think they wouldn't care too much...
Thoughts?

What dates does the clerkship run? Would it prevent you from taking the bar this year?

Similar; I didn't even get the interview until after I started, and the firm was incredibly supportive. If you're worried, maybe reach out to an associate at the firm who clerked and who you spent some time with during your summer.tww909 wrote:i was in a similar position. ultimately got offered a clerkship starting 9 months after my firm's start date. i didn't tell my firm until i started and they were fine with it. you'll be fine.

OP here
If I did accept this clerkship, would my firm still pay for my bar expenses? How does that work? I already direct billed to them...

Some firms will, but that will only work if your judge allows you to accept with the firm before starting the clerkship. Not all judges will allow that.Anonymous User wrote:OP here
