Judicial Externship with Fed. Cir. Courts?
Is it even possible to become a judicial extern with one of the Federal Circuit Courts? I know that a lot of people from my school can extern with district courts, but I have yet to hear anything about something with a federal circuit judge.

Yes. It depends on the judges - not all want to bother with interns - but it's definitely something people can do.

For reference, I believe only one Chicago 7th Circuit judge takes externs. Not sure about other circuits.

Several Ninth Circuit judges accept judicial externs. Many of them specifically solicit applications via LR's listserv/membership.

Many Sixth Circuit judges employ interns, although I don't think that's true of the all-star judges.

Yep, it can happen and does. Based on my own experience and that of others.

I externed with a circuit judge and was offered a clerkship after. I don't think my experience is typical.

Of course. I know dozens of people who interned at the 9th Circuit (in LA and SF).

Federal Circuit also accepts interns/externs, to my knowledge, though obviously they're a little idiosyncratic and will only look at you for IP law.
