Geographic connections: Mention fiancee?
I am applying to a judge in my fiancee's home state. Do I mention that my fiancee is from that state?--we want to practice there. I have received advice to leave it out, but I thought common wisdom was always to include such a connect.

Nova, your avatar and exclamation marks have me nervous: I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic.Nova wrote:I would definitely bring it up!!

Are you female or male? Either way I think bringing it up is a good idea to establish geographic ties but IME, as sexist as it seems, the boost for men talking about their fiancees/wives is significantly stronger than that for women. It makes men seem stable, and it makes women seem, I'm not sure what, either unavailable or on the mommy track.

I agree. That's why I found the contrary advice so absurd. Thanks for reassuring me.Nova wrote:I'm serious.
