Geographic connections: Mention fiancee?

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Jul 22, 2013 9:42 pm

I am applying to a judge in my fiancee's home state. Do I mention that my fiancee is from that state?--we want to practice there. I have received advice to leave it out, but I thought common wisdom was always to include such a connect.

Nova, your avatar and exclamation marks have me nervous: I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic.

Are you female or male? Either way I think bringing it up is a good idea to establish geographic ties but IME, as sexist as it seems, the boost for men talking about their fiancees/wives is significantly stronger than that for women. It makes men seem stable, and it makes women seem, I'm not sure what, either unavailable or on the mommy track.

Thanks. Appreciate the honest opinion.

I agree. That's why I found the contrary advice so absurd. Thanks for reassuring me.
