I know at least one off-plan judge on 2/9/DC scheduled interviews today with OSCAR applicants but I've heard of no widespread Plan violations

Re: 2021-2022 Clerkship Application Thread
Just want to add that a LOT of judges are going at a slower pace this year than usual. I'm c/o 2020 so I've been applying for a while. I had a handful of phone screeners in March/April with both on-plan and off-plan judges, and all of the judges want to schedule "real" interviews in late July/early August, mostly to see if it's possible to do an in-person interview then. There seems to be a lot of skepticism about whether a virtual interview is sufficient to gauge whether the judge wants to spend a year or two with you in chambers.lavarman84 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 7:01 pmNo. Judges move at different speeds. This is my first cycle so I don’t really know what to expect.
Top 5% at a T25, K-JD, pretty weak softs.

This may be right overall, but as a counter example I had a full video interview with an off-plan judge in May and that judge deemed those interviews sufficient to fill the 2021 clerk class. Its idiosyncratic.floatie wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 10:18 pmJust want to add that a LOT of judges are going at a slower pace this year than usual. I'm c/o 2020 so I've been applying for a while. 100% agree with you, I was hoping to just provide a reassuring piece of information for people who are currently waiting and who might find themselves waiting longer than usual.desiperc wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 10:44 pmThis may be right overall, but as a counter example I had a full video interview with an off-plan judge in May and that judge deemed those interviews sufficient to fill the 2021 clerk class. It seems like it does count against the 100 total though? I have six that are now listed as "Expired" so I tried doing a new app and when I went to finalize I got a message saying "You have reach Term Application Limit." Did I do something wrong do you think?floatie wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 1:44 pmI would leave them, since they don't count against your 100Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 1:43 pmAt least two judges I applied to now have expired postings after I finalized. Should I withdraw those apps to make room for new ones? Or leave them?

Re: 2021-2022 Clerkship Application Thread
No need to be paranoid - compliance with the plan is completely voluntary so it's not like the judge is going to get into "trouble." And really the people who care most about compliance -- namely other judges -- know which of their colleagues comply and which don't without needing to see it on an internet message board.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 3:16 pmBecause the interview is today as well, the district is not one of the large ones, and all of this is not technically allowed - Quite paranoid about even posting this. I've said what I'm going to say in an attempt to be helpful, letting people know that some judges are not following the reading period.bretby wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 2:04 pmWhy wouldn't you say which district? If calls are going out, it's clearly not a secret....Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 1:51 pmInterview calls have started to go out - not going to say which district, but just to inform people the "reading period" is not being taken very seriously.

Expired counts for 30 days, but Filled doesn't, was my understanding.BobLoblaw18 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 1:43 amIt seems like it does count against the 100 total though? HLS information shows that it appears several conservative judges on Circuits mostly complying with the plan (ex: 3rd) are offering interviews to 3Ls before the 24 hour waiting period is up.
