Does this email mean anything other than what it says on its face? Sent from the Administrative Assistant of a COA Judge.

"This email has been sent to you from the Chambers of Judge [redacted]

Thank you for your application for a clerkship during the 2021-2022 term. For the 2021-2022 term, Judge [Redacted] plans to review applications and conduct interviews on a rolling basis. Your application should be continually updated through March 2021."

The hopeful part of me thinks this is an indication of a forthcoming interview (had a strong recommender who personally knows this judge call). The pessimistic part of me thinks this is simply a form email that the judge is going to put off interviews. Any insight?
Got the same email. I figure it went to all applicants and means what it says.

I got the same form email this morning, I think. And I've gotten this kind of email from other judges before. I think its basically a form email that the Judge will put off interviews. BUT, having a strong recommender with personal connections makes your chances of an interview higher than mine.

I got the same email, and if my stats are any indication it's probably a form email.

If someone tells us what Judge, we can confirm whether or not it went to everyone :D

Checking in to add a data point. Top 30% at T6-10, LR board, note published. One interview with D.Ct. Judge in less competitive district, otherwise silence. Hoping to hear more this week!

Also adding a datapoint. 3.9+ GPA from T7-12, secondary journal board, COA gig secured prior to firing off 60 OSCAR apps to district courts. No organic interviews, but did leverage a Professor's network into getting one interview. It's either an extremely competitive or slow cycle.

Data point: top 5% HYSCCN, LR board, published, half a dozen COA interviews, accepted an offer, still nothing from district courts. Hoping the answer is that it's slow.

FWIW, our clerkship office just said this morning that Judge Pratt (SD Iowa) said he "will not be hiring right away due to COVID/some internal chambers logistics" so I'm thinking it's very possible this is the case with many other judges.

Didn’t the class of 2021 also have a 80% increase in 175+ lsat scores for admissions? Getting real sick of “radio silence” in “competitive cycles”

Out of curiosity, how many applications did you toss out? Also, congrats on landing your clerkship!!

What is the norm for doing multiple clerkships-- particularly multiple D. Ct. clerkships? Is that frowned upon? If I accept a D.Ct. for 2021 would it be bad to then look for D.Ct for 2022 (and potential COA for 2023?).

Its a tough cycle, y'all.
MVP, ~10%, LR board, interesting resume, and complete radio silence so far.

I know someone who did two D. Ct clerkships, albeit because she stated she didn't think she could get COA. She said it was helpful for her litigation career. She clerked in E.D. Mich and N.D. Cal.

"Who's there? Oh, hello COA crickets, didn't hear you come in. Cricketta, you can sit over there like you did last week, and Cricketer, please, take the rocking chair. Looks like we'll be here for a while. Oh, you're hungry? No problem: here's my hope and dreams served on a nice platter."

Another data point for anyone who is interested — c/2020 t-10 MVPDC student applying mainly to COA with a district court clerkship lined up, LR, published, Moot Court/Mock Trial, graduated with honors. Radio silence so far, although not entirely surprising because I don't think I was anywhere near the top of my class. Good luck to everyone on this cycle and congrats to those of you who have accepted offers!

Data Point: Top 25% at t-50, LR Board, moot court, work experience, URM. 100ish D.Ct. and Mag. apps and radio silence.

What did the form email state? I received one but not sure if mine was personalized.

I'm sure you do have an impressive record like the email says, but I can assure you they're not sending personalized rejection emails
