Any intel on the Biden nominees on CA9? Specifically Sung, H. Thomas, Mendoza, or Desai?

Re: Let's Talk 9th Circuit!
Do you think some of this is just because the learning curve for being a judge is steep, at least at the district level, and it takes some time for the judge to get settled in? I’ve honestly heard not great things about a few of the Biden appointees, but I’m wondering if most of this could be attributed to the fact that they are new to the bench.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 12:58 pmhave also heard negative things FWIW, sounds chaotic behind the scenesAnonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 8:08 amAnyone know anything about Trina Thompson (N.D. Re: Let's Talk 9th Circuit!
As a former clerk for a Trump district judge, I think it would be unusual for a district judge to not have a chaotic first year. The learning curve is insane. Though I would hope it's better for a former state court judge, and it's probably much better for a former federal magistrate. (And I doubt Corley, a longtime magistrate and career clerk who presided by consent a lot, has a learning curve at all.)Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 10:01 pmDo you think some of this is just because the learning curve for being a judge is steep, at least at the district level, and it takes some time for the judge to get settled in? Having appeared in front of both Corley and Thompson, I can confirm that Corley's chambers seems to run seamlessly whereas Thompson's chambers does . . . not.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 12:47 amAs a former clerk for a Trump district judge, I think it would be unusual for a district judge to not have a chaotic first year. Has Anthony Johnstone hired clerks yet? Or any advice for reaching out to him?

Does anyone know if Murguia is interviewing for 2023? She had a spot posted on OSCAR for this fall.

I know Murguia has hired at least one person for the 2023 term already. Additionally, Milan Smith is sending out interview requests for those curious.

Recently or last year? She had a 2023 posting last year, but she just posted a new one like a month ago, probably had someone fall through and had a fall spot to fillAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 3:38 pmI know Murguia has hired at least one person for the 2023 term already.
