Is it conventional to print writing samples single-sided or double-sided for mailed applications?

I'd do single. Some people don't like doublesided, especially when they're giving something a quick read and they can lose track of which side of the page they're on. (Yes, they can always look at the page numbers -- but that requires flipping back and forth.)

OSCAR is going down for maintenance for 3 weeks in the middle of application season? Are we being trolled by the feds?

Finally got a sizable batch of applications out today. I no longer feel terminally behind...just super behind.
Easy to forget that the vast majority of judges haven't even thought about this yet

Posner done, per OSCAR. Gorsuch has hired at least one but is still taking apps, according to a recent OSCAR update.

Can anyone independently confirm that Wardlaw is done? I called chambers last week and was told that she's still accepting apps.

Did you specify that you were asking about the 2014-2015 term? I would be very surprised if she still had spots left for then. She started accepting apps back in September, and she often interviews/hires two years out. If she's accepting apps now, it might be for 2015-2016.Anonymous User wrote:Can anyone independently confirm that Wardlaw is done? Yep. I was told that 2013-2014 is full and 2014-2015 is not.Anonymous User wrote:Did you specify that you were asking about the 2014-2015 term? Hmm, this is strange. My OCS spoke with her and she said she was full for 2014-15. Further, one of her clerks also confirmed this on a separate occasion (he emailed a mutual friend). So, unless both the judge and the clerk are trying to hide something, I believe they are only accepting apps for 2015-16 (as I thought she generally always accepts apps throughout the year). Plus, she only had two slots available since she already hired two from last season.Anonymous User wrote:Yep. So, if we hear a Judge is "interviewing" does that mean it's too late for a call from a Prof? I'm still not sure when we're supposed to ask them to make calls for us.

Per OSCAR, Fisher (9th) actually might have one spot left. He also posted the following:
"Exceptional writing or work experience (e.g., district court clerkship, post-graduate legal experience or fellowships) a plus. Below top 5% considered only on individual basis. Off-cycle 3Ls encouraged to apply after 3L grades are in."

Gorsuch is interviewing/hiring. According to my school's clerkship adviser, at least one 2014 spot has been filled.Anonymous User wrote:What's going on with the 10th Circuit? Anyone applying there?

A delicious discovery--apparently the last batch of resumes had a word-usage error (not a misspelling, think "Federalism" instead of "Federalist").
Great job on my part.
Should I send an "updated" resume when grades come out and hope they haven't gotten to evaluating yet or just leave it be? I checked that damn thing so many times and yet...

Ah yes, I received a very nice hand-signed rejection from him. I knew it was unlikely. Was just curious about other judges.Anonymous User wrote:Gorsuch is interviewing/hiring. Interesting- I didn't realize judges send rejections rather than just "I'm full" notifications. I got a very nice letter confirming he'd received my app. Classy guy.Anonymous User wrote:Ah yes, I received a very nice hand-signed rejection from him. I knew it was unlikely. Well, the letter I got wasn't an out and out rejection. I just assumed it was, but maybe it was a confirmation of receipt

Yeah, when I get letters I just look at the signature and don't read the body, too.Anonymous User wrote:Well, the letter I got wasn't an out and out rejection. I just assumed it was, but maybe it was a confirmation of receipt
