I hear he's hired at least 2 clerks for 2014, don't know about 2015.Anonymous User wrote:Is Chhabria already done?Anonymous User wrote:I know two of them were filled within a week of posting apps, and I'm not sure about the third, but one starts interviewing for 2015-16 in the next few days, so timelines are tight for people who want to apply. For any tippy-top of the class folks who for whatever reason haven't landed something: I hear Fletcher is still hiring.

Well, maybe more anonymous than expected! I was contacted from his chambers last week. It seemed somewhat personalized (i.e. didn't look like a mass message.) Maybe it was a generic email after all?

Nope! I was basically asked if I was still available (I had applied last semester) and to update my app.
I've had this happen before and that's usually followed by an interview invitation a day or two later after my response.
This time, however, nada. So maybe it was just a generic email to anyone that applied early?

Fletcher hired two, then paused while the dean search process unfolded, then withdrew. He's now interviewing for the remaining two.Anonymous User wrote:I'm pretty sure he withdrew from consideration.Bildungsroman wrote:Is he still a finalist for the Berkeley law deanship?Anonymous User wrote:For any tippy-top of the class folks who for whatever reason haven't landed something: I hear Fletcher is still hiring.

He's already interviewing for the remaining spots? How do you have such detailed info?Anonymous User wrote:Fletcher hired two, then paused while the dean search process unfolded, then withdrew. Possible they're UChicago students- they send an email to the entire student body when people land interviews, and with who (or something like that).Anonymous User wrote:

I'd be surprised if UChicago students were getting told something as detailed as the judge "paused" his hiring "while the dean search process unfolded."Arbiter213 wrote:Possible they're UChicago students- they send an email to the entire student body when people land interviews, and with who (or something like that).Anonymous User wrote:

Why? What's inappropriate about saying "Fletcher hired two, then paused while the dean search process unfolded, then withdrew. He's now interviewing for the remaining two"?Anonymous User wrote:I'd like to think a Fletcher clerk would know better than to post something like thisAnonymous User wrote:For one, the poster could be a Fletcher interviewee or Fletcher clerk.Anonymous User wrote:He's already interviewing for the remaining spots? Re: 2015-2016 Clerkship Application Thread
I mean, maybe this is just public knowledge. But personally I'd never post something like this about my judge if the only reason I knew this was through working in chambers. I'd think twice about posting (even anonymously) anything about my judge's hiring practices that wasn't available on Oscar.A. Nony Mouse wrote:Why? Re: 2015-2016 Clerkship Application Thread
I didn't think saying your judge has/hasn't hired was that objectionable, but I also worked for judges who were very laid back about things other judges are not laid back about (e.g. using opinions as writing samples), so the standards I observed doubtless don't mesh with all chambers' standards. And it does make sense to err on the side of caution/discretion.
(I actually have a suspicion that D Ct/COA chambers tend to have different cultures about this, but that's wild speculation based on my own anecdotal evidence, so it could be completely wrong. It's probably just the random selection of judges.)

Yeah, this is public knowledge at Berkeley. The Dean search process is pretty open.A. Nony Mouse wrote:I mean, maybe this is just public knowledge.
