Yeh I saw he was done, which was odd because he had only opened up the app period about 2 weeks prior--I assumed he hired someone he already knew.
Well i suppose its unclear whether I've been dinged for the other d.md judges.

There are definitely D. Md judges who have not hired yet.

Currently a 3L, who will be clerking for an appellate level state court starting in September. Sent my apps out two weeks ago for district court clerkships for the 2015 term...did I miss the boat timing wise? How early have alums been applying...I'm not technically an alum yet...this lack if hiring plan is annoying.

fwiw, im in the same spot as you--3L clerking for an SSC currently applying for 15-15
The answer: yes and no. Some districts have done a good deal of hiring (i.e. dc), but there is still a ton of judges who haven't hired even if they are accepting apps.

SDNY is probably mostly/entirely done. C.D. Cal and N.D. Cal also seem mostly done. But it's really hard to tell for most districts.ZyzzBrah wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Currently a 3L, who will be clerking for an appellate level state court starting in September. None of the 3 new N.D. Cal. judges are yet full for 2015-15, to the best of my knowledge.Anonymous User wrote:SDNY is probably mostly/entirely done. C.D. Cal and N.D. Cal also seem mostly done. Accepted a district court clerkship offer last week after walking out of the interview the day before, positive that I had blown it. Never give up hope, everyone!

OP of the previous question. Thanks for your response zyzz. Let's hope something works out for both of us. I'm applying PA/DE/NJ...not looking at SDNY so hopefully the same doesn't hold true for us south of manhattan folk (excluding northern jersey here geographically)ZyzzBrah wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Currently a 3L, who will be clerking for an appellate level state court starting in September. Haven't heard anything but should be pretty interesting to see what the new Chancellor does....assuming the Chancellor will hire later than the rest of the vice chancellor...especially since he hasn't been confirmed yet. Assuming it'll be Bouchard?Anonymous User wrote:Anyone heard back from the Chancery?

Re: 2015-2016 Clerkship Application Thread
I know two of them were filled within a week of posting apps, and I'm not sure about the third, but one starts interviewing for 2015-16 in the next few days, so timelines are tight for people who want to apply. Judge Freeman also only considers people with work experience, so that's something to consider.Anonymous User wrote:At least one of the new NDCal is definitely done.

Re: 2015-2016 Clerkship Application Thread
question: if you interview with a judge, will they call you to let you know either way (either an offer, or no offer)? i understand that most judges won't let every applicant know they are filled, but do they let those that were at least extended an interview know? any experience?

Very much like job interviews, in my experience: dings by mail, acceptances by phone (with letters following up confirming your acceptance).

A few years ago, I interviewed with a COA judge who rejected me by phone. Kindest rejection I've ever received.

Does anyone know anything about Pfaelzer (C.D. Cal)?

Very old, very well-respected by the patent bar. She takes two clerks, I think - one who does mostly patent, the other securities. I think she prefers (but does not require) work experience.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know anything about Pfaelzer (C.D. Cal)?

Thank you! Do you happen to have any insight on whether she's made calls? Per OSCAR, she's still hiring.Anonymous User wrote:Very old, very well-respected by the patent bar. No clue. I heard she tends to hire on the later side.

Re: 2015-2016 Clerkship Application Thread
I applied to Judge Pfaelzer for 2015. Recently a clerk emailed to let me know that she hires very late, as in March of the year the clerkship starts, and that I should apply again in a year if I am still interested. She does have one patent and one securities clerk, and by all accounts she's excellent to work for and incredibly knowledgeable.Anonymous User wrote:No clue.
