Maybe this is a collective delusion caused by this thread but it feels crazy how many non-feeder judges have moved already.

Man, I just wanna say thanks to people who are sharing parts of their school's tracker. It infuriates me that my clerkship office doesn't do this and therefore leaves us totally in the dark about what's happening.

Whatever your school is, I can't imagine its clerkship office is as bad as Georgetown's

Re: 2023-2024 Clerkship Application Thread
As someone who went to CLS, I would love to hear about other clerkship offices because I would think that CLS' office can't be that much worse than everyone else, but it also definitely seems like we are.

Having talked to people from all over the T14 and below, I think the general sense is that almost everyone thinks their clerkship office is the worst (or at least is worse than peer schools), with some simply holding the view more staunchly/publicly than others.

Re: 2023-2024 Clerkship Application Thread
Hang in there everyone and don’t give up if you have dreams of clerking! I applied for clerkships starting as a 1L before the plan was a thing and had zero bites for the three years I was a student. My school wasn’t much of a help. I had good grades at a top 7 school with pretty solid awards and work experience. It wasn’t until the first year of post grad work that I gained any traction with interviews. By the time I submitted my last application I had essentially given up. That last app took off and I got a job with the judge I wanted to work with all along from my first email to professors as a 1L (in a competitive district). The doors the experience have opened have really made me proud that I kept my head held high. This forum is a great resource but take parts with a grain of salt. There are clerks out there that may take a chance in advocating to give you the benefit of the doubt

Re: 2023-2024 Clerkship Application Thread
Man I'm mad despondent. I fucking killed myself to get fringe magna grades at HYSC and cant get a single day 1 touch. Instead, I gotta sit on the bench and watch my friends all get interviewed to high heaven. I'm ecstatic for them and I know things arent over yet for me but its damn tough.
I know these are annoying comments but holy shit all the effort and stress to this point feels futile. It feels like law school grades don't even matter and things are breaking on whether you went to HYSPM for undergrad or not. Shockingly, I did not. And its fucking ass to feel like choices I made at 16 are defining my life today

1. Calls are not remotely close to finished, though I understand the frustration at watching your classmates get calls. I do not believe that most judges, even on the most selective circuits, care at all about undergraduate schools.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 12:37 amMan I'm mad despondent. 2. Now is a good time to reflect on the absolute wealth of terrific candidates the most sought-after judges have to choose from. Magna alone at HLS is around 56 students per class, and calls tend to concentrate amongst a select few at first. Now add the magna level/other sought-after softs students at other schools, and you begin to understand just how hard it is to be pulled from the pile for some of these judges.
Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

I do appreciate this - it is kind, it's hard to reconcile feeling happy for your friends but also being mad stressed for your own sake. I know things aren't done but I'm seeing people turn interviews with judges I thought I would have a pretty realistic shot at and starting to worry a little.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 12:55 am1. I am HLS so I am seeing this play out in very abundant detail and damn it really makes me wonder what people pull based on. This shit dwarfs firm interviewing stress cuz at least those made sense! I shouldn't let myself worry that much but damn I wish I had a little validation that my app was compelling in some capacity. Ah law school anxiety, you never did leave.

Re: 2023-2024 Clerkship Application Thread
I say this with the full intention of trying to help you feel better, so please take it that way: if you are top 10-15% of your class at the law schools of Harvard, Yale, Stanford or Chicago, put your head on your pillow tonight with some satisfaction about how much you've managed to achieve and how many opportunities are available to you, rather than feeling dissatisfaction about not hearing from the about the most selective bosses in America that have four (max) jobs apiece and have had 36 hours to look at applications during presumably your first attempt at securing a clerkship.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 12:37 amMan I'm mad despondent. Look I'm happy to commiserate with fellow T14 magnas about how we didn't get anything but I think we should wait until after this process is over. It feels way too soon to call it.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
