Are you all cold-submitting resumes/applications to recruitment contacts at firms or what? I've seen little to no post-clerkship job posts on firm websites (which I thought was the norm). Getting nervous bc it seems like firms are moving.

Same Q but sub in-house for AUSAAnonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 3:08 pmThis is what I'm doing. Also how should I handle it if I’m applying for AUSA also? Just get a private practice job and then tell them whoops going to AUSA if I get a position?

Just submitting applications to recruiters, though have not received any hits yet. From what I hear, most places will start moving after the new year.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:54 pmAre you all cold-submitting resumes/applications to recruitment contacts at firms or what? First time posting in this thread: Just wrapped up my cycle in the bay area. Happy to say that the big names in litigation are actively hiring, and they very much need mid-level litigators.

When is your start date (or would you mind PMing me)? My clerkship ends next fall, and even with partner referrals, the recruitment staff are telling me they aren't reviewing resumes until mid-January at the earliest (boutiques and big law).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 1:52 pmThank you! Re: Fall 2021 Post-Clerkship Hiring
PM'ed with details! For the benefit of everyone: I think post-holidays/mid-January is correct at this point. I know that these offices are going through law school recruiting as well. But hold on to hope: their needs were specifically mid-level. Law school hiring would not fill those gaps.Internationalist wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 9:59 pmWhen is your start date (or would you mind PMing me)? Any updates on NY firms? And more generally, do we expect to not hear from firms between now and at least after January 1st?

According to another post in this forum, Kirkland was conducting screeners late November or early December, but radio silence otherwise.
I'm clerking in the S.D.N.Y. and my chambers has received a formal solicitation from only one biglaw firm so far....
I have already applied everywhere, and now I'm wondering whether I should have held off.

Re: Fall 2021 Post-Clerkship Hiring
I’ve had some movement from non-brand name boutiques in NYC over the past two weeks. Not your susman/molos or any big firms. Not sure it indicates anything re: larger market trends since their hiring needs may be idiosyncratic.

Bumping this. Have heard from a few NYC boutiques but not others. Anyone hear anything this week? Or do we expect hiring to pick up later in the month?

(1) got susman rejection todayAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 3:43 pmBumping this. Have heard from a few NYC boutiques but not others. Anyone hear anything this week? Or do we expect hiring to pick up later in the month?
(2) have heard from a few boutiques/firms that I should reach out again in may/June
(3) am interviewing with one other boutique
That’s all I know at the moment. My recruiter and some friends have told me I’m way early and I should be thinking more about May/June timeframe. But then again Susman was clearly hiring, so who knows. I’d be coming in as a fourth year so maybe my situation is different from those of you who clerked right out of school

may/june seems crazy late but I guess some firms won't know how many slots they can offer until then

Papers. Yeah this is my second run through this (worked in between clerkships) and last time I was interviewing with the V10s in January/February. Not sure if it’s my class year, covid, or just maybe I got started extra early last timeAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 8:30 pmdid you interview with susman or a rejection on the papers?ughbugchugplug wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 4:39 pm(1) got susman rejection today

Re: Fall 2021 Post-Clerkship Hiring
For those who did two clerkships and now on the job hunt/accepted a job, how are firms treating your class year?
I will begin two clerkships after one year at a firm (covid delays aside). So I think I would be an incoming fourth year when I apply? I'm worried that will be a turn off for firms and that I might have to come in as a third year.
