in fairness it totally wouldn't surprise me if the blue book publishing law review teams or some other suspiciously homogeneous group got together and made some prestige ranking of clerkshipsabl wrote:It took 5 seconds. So, for somebody who wants to be in DC long-term, who are the particularly well-respected or connected judges in EDVA or DMD to look at?Anonymous User wrote: Which brings me to my second point. If you just want to leverage a clerkship for professional reasons, what matters the most is the judge you clerk for.

Where do you want to work in DC? Ask the lawyers who work at that firm/agency/whatever.Anonymous User wrote:So, for somebody who wants to be in DC long-term, who are the particularly well-respected or connected judges in EDVA or DMD to look at?Anonymous User wrote: Which brings me to my second point. It really depends on what you want to do in DC. If you want to do patent lit, there are a couple of judge in EDVA who might be better than others. If your goal is civil DOJ, you'll probably want to focus on different judges.
This game doesn't work like you're assuming. The generic "prestige" answers you're seeking don't exist.

We don't know anything about OP's profile as an applicant, but I just find it nuts that someone could think they'll have their pick of the litter among EDVA, NDIL, or any of the other highly competitive districts discussed above. That grossly underestimates how popular these districts are. Getting two interviews out of applying to every judge in any of the districts mentioned above would be a success story in my book.JusticeJackson wrote:DC is such a buyers' market that I think you take what you can get.Anonymous User wrote:So, for somebody who wants to be in DC long-term, who are the particularly well-respected or connected judges in EDVA or DMD to look at?Anonymous User wrote: Which brings me to my second point. I wish I could help, but I was summarily rejected by all EDVA and DDC judges.

Nothing mentioned about edpa or DNJ. I'd imagine those would be better than d mass and maybe Maryland. Especially edpa send people to 2nd cir and dc cir and sometimes later SCOTUS. No?
