Seems very slow outside of NY/CA

Received a Gibson DC offer about two weeks after the interview. Had a Covington DC interview several weeks ago but am still waiting to hear back -- have heard from others that interviewed earlier than me that they are still waiting as well. Dings from Latham, W&C, Kellogg, Jenner.

Still waiting to hear from several of the large DC firms despite submitting applications in early January.

Any other DC firm updates? I hope they speed up this month.

Do you know if firms would call or email with an offer? What I am really asking: Do I need to keep obsessively refreshing my inbox?

K&E Chicago callback. I applied early December, so hoping this is an indication that firms are just taking their sweet sweet time...

Has anyone applied to Hueston Hennigan?

Or interviewed? Know how long of an interview day they plan?

I recently had an interview with 9 different people at a firm. Should I have sent all 9 a thank you? I know there are mixed opinions on this, but I haven't heard back from them yet and am wondering if I messed that up.

I think it varies by firm but as one data point, one NY firm that I interviewed with said that it's still relatively early and it might be weeks to reach a decision.

I haven't written any thank-you notes. Also haven't gotten any offers or rejections, so take from that what you will.

Thank you emails are overrated and basically just an extra opportunity to screw up. I stopped bothering with those awhile ago.

I'm leaning toward it being okay. The thought of finding nine different ways to say the same thing, well. :|

Nope. Just your generic no opening email. Submitted my materials a few weeks back.

I have seen the light on thank yous. After some conversations with some older lawyer mentors, I decided to write notes for my first interview and emails for my second. (Got an offer, as well.) I'm sure they are by no means necessary, particularly with large firms, but to some more old-school lawyers especially, they really do appreciate them. I think henceforth in my career, I will use emails. No one will ever reply to your handwritten note, but an email will generate some responses and keep the dialogue going. May allow you to build on the interview.

Certainly they are an invitation to make more mistakes. Undoubtable. Have someone you trust read them for tone and other errors. Also, they don't need to be more than four or five sentences. Say thank you, mention some specifics from your conversation, reaffirm your interest. The key is that you sound truly grateful and enthusiastic. As I said, probably not necessary in every case, but can absolutely make a difference in some cases,

Thanks for sharing. I hope that means the big Chicago firms are just now starting to move. I haven't heard a peep (though my creds aren't quite as good as yours).

I'm curious about your move, given your 2L SA. Are you changing markets? I only ask because that's what I'm trying to do.

I'm just curious -- what market was the offer in? I can imagine that plays a role.

Aren't hiring at the moment as in not looking at apps yet or aren't going to be hiring this cycle?
