Can those of you getting interviews clarify that you’re top 10% at HYS so that I feel better about myself

Has anyone heard about Owens? I know Watford and Friedland interviews have gone out.

Does anyone know if Young (D. Mass.), Meyer (D. Conn.), or McCafferty (D.N.H.) have moved?

Thoughts on my chances? Applied mostly to NY, DC, Chicago, and Philadelphia DCs.
Stats: T20, top 5%, law review editorial board, note published.

I'm telling myself vast majority of people getting interviews are T6 law review exec board members and moving my little T20 self on along

Owens (9th) interviews. I'm a t3, top 10%, published note, and my letters were sent this morning. There is hope!

Re: 2021-2022 Clerkship Application Thread
I am the poster who posted a few of the big lists of names above. To be clear, those are not all for one applicant. Although it does sound like a handful of HYS students are getting literally 5-12 interviews (they are presumably the top of HYS, but I don't know that)
Presumably, the fact that interviews are remote is exacerbating the usual consolidation that happens for the tippy top students of HYS. And those students can't accept ALL of these offers, so hang in there, folks.

This. I am HYS + LR and top quarter (im guessing, idk hys doesn't rank). Have gotten one DCt interview. So yeah.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 3:28 pmI'm telling myself vast majority of people getting interviews are T6 law review exec board members and moving my little T20 self on along
Chill out people. Go for a walk and get an ice cream cone or something.

Am also HYS + law review (3L/2020 grad) and only had one interview with an off-plan judge back in April. So I'm also assuming those with many interview requests in hand are top of the top at HYS.

I'm HYS, secondary journal, about 60% Hs 40% Ps, and haven't gotten a single interview despite sending 80 apps all over to both District and Circuit judges. Here's to holding out hope.

Agreed that people should relax but I mean, you've gotten an interview lol I think the people being anxious have no interviewsAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 3:32 pmThis. I don't know helpful this is as a data point, but I am Top 5% at a T20, on the Ed Board of a secondary journal and involved in moot court/mock trial. I also networked pretty heavily. I have received exactly one interview request. I think things are even more idiosyncratic than normal right now.

Sullivan (DDC), Garland, Saris, Engelmayer, Lohier, Moss, McKeown, Kearse, Cooper, Lee (NDIL), Calabresi, Miller, Collins, Pillard, Boasberg, Watford, Howell, Liman, Higginson, Berzon
eta: the above are interview invites, again not for a single applicant but seeing a lot concentrated into the hands of a small number of applicants

Yeah I agree the ice cream line was a bit much (though I am a proponent of treating yourself right now).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 3:39 pmAgreed that people should relax but I mean, you've gotten an interview lol I think the people being anxious have no interviewsAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 3:32 pmThis. For worth its worth, I have no interviews but I still found the ice cream cone line great.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 3:45 pmYeah I agree the ice cream line was a bit much (though I am a proponent of treating yourself right now).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 3:39 pmAgreed that people should relax but I mean, you've gotten an interview lol I think the people being anxious have no interviewsAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 3:32 pmThis. I've gotten four interviews with pretty desirable but non-feeder or semi-feeder judges that are not on that list fwiw (top 10% HYSCCN + LR) so it's not exhaustive. Not comfortable with specifics but pretty coastal.

I mean, this info is all coming in piecemeal so of course it's not exhaustive. Would you care to share the judges you're interviewing with or are ya just trying to flex in an unhelpfully vague way?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 3:49 pmI've gotten four interviews with pretty desirable but non-feeder or semi-feeder judges that are not on that list fwiw (top 10% HYSCCN + LR) so it's not exhaustive.

Re: 2021-2022 Clerkship Application Thread
For those of us lucky enough to snag one of these first wave interviews, how should we feel about taking an interview with a judge that isn't a top choice, knowing that it could be weeks before other judges reach out, if at all? While I feel really fortunate to have already heard something at this point I also know that rescinding an offer is a big no no; if a judge wants to move quickly do you have any leeway to bargain for more time if you don't even have any other interviews lined up yet?

Care to share which W.D. Tex. judge? Or even which division?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 2:51 pmYup, same. I'm not here trying to win the biggest gold star, just hoping for a good year with a good judge.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 2:45 pmMan, I'm not even thinking about those judges. I want my E.D.N.C/W.D. Tex/E.D. Mich. judges.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 2:40 pmMy thoughts are that movement right now is for the shiniest objects (e.g. magna at HYS, Rhodes, worked on the hill etc). Once those people accept their DC circuit offers, the SDNY/DDC/non feeder coa judges will get to us mortals. Least that's my self-pep talk.
FWIW, I got an interview invite from a W.D. Tex. judge earlier today.

If it's helpful, I'm at a mid-T14 with above-median grades, LR exec board, and diverse. One surprise (non-feeder) DDC/SDNY/NDCal interview, and three more on desirable major market districts--think NDIll/DNJ/EDNY/DMass/NDTX/SDTX. No circuit calls.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
