Re: 2017-2018 Clerkship Application Thread
Whats the protocol for calling a judge with whom you have interviewed and asking the status of your application? i have other interviews coming up but still waiting to hear back from my top choice. I dont want to jump on one of them if offered quickly when I haven't heard back from the other judge yet. also do rejections after interviews usually come as letters or emails or phone calls?

Ikuta has hired at least 2. The cycle is moving very fast this year.

On CA9, Fletcher, Watford, and Reinhardt are interviewing this week. (Reinhardt is not full, contrary to the earlier post; he has one slot left.) On CADC, I believe Garland is full and Kavanaugh has one slot left. The process has moved very quickly.

What are the schools and class years of the Garland/Kavanaugh 2017 clerks?

I believe Garland hired one HLS 2017, two YLS 2017, and one SLS 2017. Kavanaugh had filled two 2017 slots last year -- I think one HLS 2016 and one YLS 2016 -- and has now hired one YLS 2017 and possibly a second YLS 2017 (though this is just a rumor).Anonymous User wrote:What are the schools and class years of the Garland/Kavanaugh 2017 clerks?

Re: 2017-2018 Clerkship Application Thread
Hi all,
I'm a rising 2L trying to determine whether or not it is worth it for me to put serious thought into applying for 2017.
3.8 & law review at UT, but I have virtually no professor relationships from 1L, and NYC, DC, Dallas, and maybe Houston and Chicago would probably be the only markets I would move to for a clerkship straight out of school (though I would likely be more open to other markets for a clerkship after getting a few years of firm experience).
Any thoughts on if I'd be competitive enough in those specific cities to make it worth the effort? I assume it's a straight no for NYC/DC/Chicago. Thanks!

Does that mean that he's already extended interview offers? Or just that he's actively reviewing and will begin interviewing shortly?Anonymous User wrote:Jacobs is looking at applications.

Srinivasan has 3 spots filled, and already has interviews lined up for the final spot. Call to Chambers confirmed they are still accepting applications, though take that with a grain of salt.Anonymous User wrote:Any word on O'Scannlain, Srinivasan, Fletcher, or Niemeyer?

Niemeyer has hired at least 1 of 3 for 2017 (and I believe another is a long-term clerk, which would leave one opening).Anonymous User wrote:Any word on O'Scannlain, Srinivasan, Fletcher, or Niemeyer?

At least for last cycle, Niemeyer had 1 career and 2 terms.

Per Oscar, Jacobs is now fully staffed through August 2017. No further indication that he is hiring for 2017-18 at this time, but his Oscar profile has always been sparse.
