Same! I was hoping they were handing out free money in exchange for their lack of scholarship offer. I was wrongWahooLaw24 wrote:I received an e-mail saying I was one of a handful of people who had accidentally been mailed a check because I attended last year. No checks here yet in MA (I'm guessing the state holiday prevented checks from being delivered yesterday). Also no scholly info yet via email/phone. I'm hoping they'll both come later in the day.digifly wrote:Received my ASW stipend today. They're on the way!
Don't know about Ivy but Pavilion is 100% a brand new building that opens in August. It's also more expensive than other area apartments so the likelihood of undergrads living there is slim (should be mostly law and Darden).Mack12 wrote:Does anyone know if the Pavilion has a lot of undergrads living there? Pavilion is pretty pricey and far away from thd ug campus, so I doubt it. It's marketing itself to law school and b school students pretty hard.Mack12 wrote:Does anyone know if the Pavilion has a lot of undergrads living there? Same with Ivy. Ivy is almost exclusively law and Darden students. The Pavillion might have more of a mix since it's new, but it's so close to the law and business schools that you shouldn't get too many undergrads.Mack12 wrote:Does anyone know if the Pavilion has a lot of undergrads living there? Yeah, I doubt the Pavilion will have many undergrads at all.envisciguy wrote:Ivy is almost exclusively law and Darden students. When I was asking about various floorplans, a decent amount of them were already filled. I don't know if they'd lie to me about that, or what it means if they weren't lying.5ky wrote:I actually think the Pavilion being more expensive makes it more likely there would be undergrads there, and it's also right on the bus line.
Just looking at the place from the outside, it seriously looks huge. I don't know how in the world they are going to fill it up with people willing to pay a premium for living there.
I emailed them today asking if they still had any 1BRs available. They told me they did, but they expected them all to be filled by Friday. Now, I'm pretty sure they're BSing because they want to fill the units sooner than later, and I emailed them back saying I wasn't interested if Friday was the deadline. I'll let you know if they email me back.5ky wrote:Just looking at the place from the outside, it seriously looks huge. Maybe it's just bc I live in one of the most expensive places in the country right now, but I think the Pavilion prices are a steal if the apartments are really as good in person as they look in the pics.5ky wrote:I actually think the Pavilion being more expensive makes it more likely there would be undergrads there, and it's also right on the bus line.

I think there actually might be some truth to this filling up thing. I'm in the process of getting my leasing stuff signed now and I supposedly got 1 of the "2 non-study 1 bedrooms left". Apparently they're expecting the Darden students coming into town this weekend to take up a bunch of the spaces too. Also, theres a good amount of people who have already signed a lease there talking about it in the UVA fb groups.TripTrip wrote:I emailed them today asking if they still had any 1BRs available. I guess it all has to do with where you're coming from. I came from a college town where rent at a nice place was under $500/month, so I decided to stay at my cheaper place on Arlington for next year and never considered the Pavilion. The Pavilion is ridiculously expensive compared to the other options, but I just think the 0Ls from NY and the like salivate when they see such "reasonably priced" housing. Just wait till they see the price of drinks at the Coner!5ky wrote:It's definitely possible they really will fill the place up. I obviously underestimated the aversion people have to comparison shopping.

I think I recall it being around 170ish for cable/internet/electric and water for a 2 bedroom place, so about 85-90 a person a month.djlmjs22 wrote:I posted this in the other thread as well but to cover my bases....
I'm assuming utilities in Ivy Garden aren't included, any idea how much utilities would cost there/in general?
