Anyone know if the full deposit ($1000) is credited toward the Fall bill, or if they split it up $500/$500 between Fall and Spring? I am trying to determine how much to accept in loans....

Anyone here play squash?? I noticed that the nearby rec center has some squash courts. I am by no means good, but love to play around, and wanted to see if anyone else would be bringing their squash racket and would want to set up some super low key matches.

4L here. Usually there are a few people in each class that enjoy playing, there's also sign up sheets at North Grounds. Also, not sure yet if the new courts have opened at Boar's Head indoor tennis center and/or if they are open to students. Also not sure about North Grounds construction and if that affects squash courts; I don't think it should.shibby wrote:Anyone here play squash?? Good to hear, thanks. New courts with student access would be fantastic.desertlaw wrote:4L here. Re: UVA Class of 2016
Hey everyone, I know there have been a lot of these posts, but I am looking for someone to take over my lease in Arlington Court (directly across from the Jeffersonian, and right next to the law school). It's a large (1,280 square foot) 2 Bedroom / 1.5 Bath apartment with lots of natural light and features:
- Hardwood floors throughout
- Gas stove
- Full-size washer and dryer in unit
- Trash pickup, sewer, and water included in rent
- 2 parking spaces (included in rent)
- Secluded private patio
- Large storage area in basement
- Pets negotiable
- $1,125/mo - WAY cheaper than the Pavilion
Shoot me a PM if you're still looking for a place or know someone who is. Thanks!

Do any of you mind sharing your numbers for estimated cost of living expenses? I'm trying to do some number crunching with my monthly budget but I'm not sure whether my numbers are at all accurate....
My super crude budget:
Ivy Garden Rent-530
Food-300
Utilities-150
Entertainment-100 (high end)
Travel expenses-50
Other (laundry, netflix)-100
Cost of Living=1200-ish

It depends what kind of lifestyle you're envisioning with that budget I suppose. I would say you'd have to be fairly disciplined and would have to cook basically every meal to make that work, but if that's what you're planning than I think your numbers are okay.Legen..waitforit wrote:Do any of you mind sharing your numbers for estimated cost of living expenses? Re: UVA Class of 2016
For the direct deposit of loans, does anyone know when that is actually likely to post? The Pavilion is recommending that we mail them checks by 7/15, and I'm wondering how long I'll have to have an empty bank account for.
Also, all we need to do for that is fill out the info on SIS, correct?

I don't think that's going to happen until mid August. Also how did you hear about the Pavilion deadline? I haven't gotten any word about cheques and such.digifly wrote:For the direct deposit of loans, does anyone know when that is actually likely to post? I received an email with move-in information a day or two ago. It talked about early move-in and payments, among other things.danitt wrote:I don't think that's going to happen until mid August. Another 4L chiming in. North Grounds should be open again in the fall (though they do not have an opening date as of yet), with a brand new pool, bigger fitness/cardio/weights area, and two squash courts (and the basketball courts that are already there). But the new Boar's Head squash center is already open, with no extra charge for UVA students. From what I have heard, it is pretty awesome over there. So enjoy it! Here is the link if you want more info: http://www.virginia.edu/ims/facilities/ ... squash.phpshibby wrote:Good to hear, thanks. Nerd Alert:
I like walking around the law school and thinking about how awesome it's going to be. I'm super fucking excited! I can't wait to start.
