I bought a 13" macbook pro about 6 months ago, so I was just gonna use that. I have parallels on it and it works really well, so I think that'll cover any windows-based programs required.

Re: NYU Law Class of 2016
For what it's worth, the only required software is Exam4, and that works on Macs (though apparently the window where you type text is smaller). Parallels isn't necessary.HawkeyeGirl wrote:I bought a 13" macbook pro about 6 months ago, so I was just gonna use that. Iirc the exam software is downloaded and installed so an optical disc is recommended but not necessary.
In addition, when you buy your laptop (macbook air in this case) be sure to get it with a processor that begins with 4. As in intel i5-4xxx. This is the new haswell chip. Anything that begins with 3 is you being ripped off to deplete now outdated inventory.

I don't think I'd advise someone to pay full price for Haswell over discounted Sandy Bridge, though. Haswell's only about 10% faster; its main advantage is battery life.Tekrul wrote:Iirc the exam software is downloaded and installed so an optical disc is recommended but not necessary.

True, I meant for full retail in being ripped off. There are gen 3's still out there being hawked for what the gen 4's are going for. But 25-30%+ off is fair.

FYI, I emailed with Financial Aid and they confirmed that you would have to purchase your laptop after August 1, 2013 to be able to apply for the loan increase to cover it.

How long does the NetID take?
I got my deposit confirmation from the adcomms on Friday. It's been 72 hours (but I'm not sure if they mean 3 business days).
My ID hasn't been created for me yet so I can't sign up for housing.

Re: NYU Law Class of 2016
Well, my roommate actually gave me the bed, because I wanted a double bed for me and my girlfriend when she stays over. I live in an F-type room, and there was room in my bedroom for the two school-issued beds. Also, no one is going to care if you lend your bed out to someone else in Mercer, people do it all the time. At the start of every semester there are usually multiple coases posts about it.porch wrote:did he still have room to live with it? bc i know you cant take the other one out they said?ssteiner wrote:Yeah, my roommate did that.

Do any current students know the likelihood of getting on-campus housing for people accepted off the waitlist quickly? I put my housing app in shortly after the deadline, but I'm definitely starting to get anxious

Has anybody seen the rooms in Mercer? How much space do we have under the bed/ how high off the ground is it? I'm hoping to be able to get flat storage boxes and store things like clothes, towels, and other foldable things under my bed to save space. Has this worked for other people?

My 3bdr still only has 1 other person assigned. You will likely get something.Greeno wrote:Do any current students know the likelihood of getting on-campus housing for people accepted off the waitlist quickly? The Mercer beds have built-in storage drawers under them.beautyistruth wrote:Has anybody seen the rooms in Mercer? How much space do we have under the bed/ how high off the ground is it? How did you guys know who your assigned roommate was?
It looks like the other room has been filled, but it doesn't give any other info on the reslife application status site.
