Re: NYU Law Class of 2016
Hi all, I'm a recent Fordham admit and I'm planning to move to New York in August. I'll be looking into living with a roommate or two who also go to Fordham, but I thought an even better idea might be to live with people who are also law students, but DON'T also go to Fordham. It would probably make conflict between anyone a bit less likely, seeing as we wouldn't be directly competing with one another for grades. Plus, we all might have more networking opportunities. Anyway, if anyone else is interested in trying this, here's a bit about myself:
- I'm a straight, white male in my mid-20s, if any of that is important to you.
- I'm more of a night person than a morning person, but I don't think you'll have to worry about me keeping you up, I care very much about sleep and respecting peoples' need to get it
- I'm a big believer in keeping common areas cleaner than my own personal space. This means that there will probably be a number of items of clothing on the floor in my room on a consistent basis. As long as you're just happy that they're not in YOUR room (or the common areas), we'll be cool.
- I'm also a big believer in using plastic utensils and paper plates for my own food, so you won't have to worry about me leaving that shit in my semi-chaotic room.
- I don't necessarily NEED to have cable or satellite, but I'd be leaning towards trying to get DirecTV, if only for the sake of the sports packages.
If all of that works for you, send me a PM and let me know if you're interested in apartment hunting soon.

Does anyone know if NYU's commencement is always on the field of Yankee Stadium? They set the bar pretty high in my mind

Re: NYU Law Class of 2016
There's a general university commencement, which is done at Yankees Stadium, and a school-specific graduation ceremony, typically done at Radio City Music Hall. They keep promising to open the square (Washington Square Park) every damn year, and every damn year, students get told "oh, it'll definitely be open next year". In past years, before it came under construction, the square was where general commencement was held.risa wrote:Is that just the law school or does the whole university have graduation together or...?JamMasterJ wrote:yeah and they always light up the Empire State building in violet the night before. EDIT: I will add that this year's commencement featured both Marty Lipton and David Boies. Practically came in my pants with my girlfriend's mom sitting next to me.

Re: NYU Law Class of 2016
I sent mine in about a week ago and it updated today.Tekrul wrote:Has anyone been able to successfully submit their final official transcript and the college questionnaire? I send them in about a month ago, emailed them and they responded saying they never received them. I sent them both in again about a week ago and seriously, if they tell me they didn't get them again, I will melt from frustration. It still does not show up as received in the online status checker.
Sigh
I have a related question - Is the "Final Transcript Rcvd by LSAC" requirement supposed to be checked, assuming of course that LSAC has received my final transcript?

Re: NYU Law Class of 2016
The stuff in GTM is pretty hard to conceptualize without having a decent background of cases to practice using their "forks" on, or at least play with mentally as they introduce you to all their forks. And without any practical experience writing law schools essays, the stuff in it is pretty non-intuitive with respect to how, when, and where to use their methods.
How to Do Your Best on Law School Exams is a little more efficient to the newer reader, imo. In the end, I still do not feel terribly confident in writing. Personally, I probably won't feel comfortable about any writing I do until I get a professor in office hours to go over my work and tell me exactly how I did.
Let me know how LEEWS goes, please? I hear it's quite effective and has a lot of practice to reinforce the theory it is based on (whereas GTM and Delany's book is essentially all reading up on theory) but I don't want to drop that kind of cash on it without having trustworthy feedback.

Just joined this and realized 'THIS IS WHERE STUFF HAPPENS!' was struggling with this forum, facebook, and the NYU off campus forum to find roommates and apts!risa wrote:Yup, emailing join-coases-list@lists.nyu.edu worked for me. Thanks!Swimp wrote:Yeah the lists thing didn't show up for me either, but I subscribed via email. Here's the syntax:
If you know the name of the list you wish to join, the easiest way to subscribe is to send a blank email to the list's "join" address, e.g. join-listname@lists.nyu.edu, where 'listname' is the name of the list. For example, if the list name is 'jazztalk', send a blank email to join-jazztalk@lists.nyu.edu.
I don't remember what coases is called I think it might be coases-list.

This is how I joined coases and it was really easyOldMan2015 wrote: Alternatively, try going to https://home.nyu.edu/cgi-bin/ListsContr ... tid=xxx123, obviously replacing the NetID with yours, and then searching for coases.
