Eh...I was a deferral from 2 years ago and I felt like I waited forever to create this thread (cuz you know, I couldn't look too eager!). Don't worry, you'll forget about CLS for a bit as you enjoy your time off, but then once applications start up again you'll start stalking to see your future classmates.
Hope you have a wonderful year off! =D

BTW- got my housing this morning around 930 and am thrilled!
What'd you get!??!? I'm still waiting for an approval.

Thanks! I'm sure I'll get off this forum as the summer heats up. This will be my fifth year off since graduating from UG and I'm going to enjoy the hell out of it!

That's when you physically go to the office to sign the lease, get your keys, etc. note that there are time/date restrictions on when you can sign the lease
and when you can move in. You can change your appt time and even date after accepting the assignment. You can do that by logging into the housing portal web or giving Uah a call

I received mine earlier this week and it came in the form of a check. Filled out all the paperwork during the April ASW and submitted it that week as well.
Did you receive the request from Columbia Vendor Management for your W-9? If so, how long after that did you get your reimbursement? Sorry to be high-maintenance on this. I would LOVE to pay off my credit card this month.

thanks for the info! didnt know you can change later thats good news. okay this may sound SUPER dumb but-- so the move in date just means the first available day for you to move in, and then you can continue moving in the days following that, or are they trying to restrict you somehow within a single day. don't know if they have special permissions you only get for a day or something weird? i probably sound ridiculous but just want to make sure....
and I got 610 W 115th, two bedroom unfurnished utilities included just barely above my max rent which i had set fairly low so i'm ecstatic! just a block from the subway and like a 5 min walk to the school woohoooo

Such a nice block. Totally jealous of you on-campus housing kids.

Where are people seeing floor plan info for their housing assignments?

I called Juliana. Luckily, she had mine on her computer. I got the impression that if she hadn't, I would have had to contact UAH.

many units don't have floor plans.
also, do your buildings have AC? for mine I have to buy my own AC unit and I'm trying to gauge how shitty that is or if its pretty normal

I just assumed I would need to bring a window unit if I want to have AC. Most buildings like the ones we'll be living in do not have central air in NYC. So don't feel like you're getting screwed. It's very normal, not just at Columbia but in the city in general.

Correct. AC units aren't very expensive and if your utilities are in the price of the rent, then it's nbd. If, on the other hand, your utilities are not included and you have to go through ConEd, then you could be looking at $100+ in electricity costs for the month. Also, I survived last summer perfectly fine with just a large fan.

There was a link in the housing portal website under "assignment details" when I got my assignment.

Is anyone else who just applied for the 400 block on 115 still waiting to hear back? Really hoping I'm not the only one...

So.... I didn't make it to ASD but someone told me they were handing out hoodies. Is it awkward if I call the Admissions office and ask them to mail me one? Too much? Too far?

They're kind of meh as far as college hoodies go, tbh.
In other news, I asked Juliana a question about my room assignment and instead of just answering she was like... can I call you about it later today? I am slightly worried.

Good luck with this! Nice of her to at least take the time to explain to you whatever's going on.
While you're at it, wanna ask about my assignment?

Haha, thanks. Sure thing.
I just am confused why it's a call?? Like, unless she needs my feedback/reaction in some way, naw'mean.
