So squatters looking to buy don't get the deal?
I meant first-time residents of the Pavilion, if that's what your question was. Basically, the furniture package should be "free" for anyone moving in this fall.

EDITED: Fixed egregious your/you're error. OCD. Had to. Couldn't stand it.

Also, bear in mind that unless you live in a place that's furnished all 3 years, you're going to have to buy some at some point anyway; having a furnished apartment for one year isn't going to save you any money in the long run.
True indeed. I looked at the "furniture concession addendum" in the contract and it seems unclear as to whether the furniture will remain free for the two years following 1L, assuming that a resident wishes to stay in the Pavilion.

I was trying to make a joke that everyone would be a first time resident because the place is only just opening. Sub par effort on my behalf.

I thought it was funny!
However, the threshold to entertain me is probably quite low considering my alternative is working on discovery for a case where a lady tripped on a sidewalk and is suing the city.

I doubt it. But it was supposed to cost $35. a month so they may revert to that. They also have an all or nothing policy. You must take all of the furniture or none of it. As an international student and someone who has lived in furnished company housing my entire adult life, that works great for me because I own nothing. I'm wondering about the utility of buying furniture when God knows where I'll end up after UVA.

I got all my furniture off craigslist except for my mattress, and it came out to roughly 450 dollars for a desk, chair, kitchen table + chairs, mattress, nightstand, dresser, bookcase, and end table.

edit: my point was more than it's relatively uncommon for a person to live in the same place all 3 years of law school. You meet people, want to live with them, move a bit further away to a house, etc.

How dare you!

I wanted a one bedroom too but that wasn't very financially sound. I would have gone for a three but even I know my limits when it comes to living with people.

Ha. Nah, I'm still very thrifty. However, I did my time with roomates in the army. I live in a 1-BR by myself now, after living with my grandparents for a couple years, and it's probably the best decision I've ever made.

Future me can deal with the debt. :-P

I hear you, coming out of the army myself and after the last few years of finally living on my own I'm not ready to go back. I did find a great deal on Arlington though in the same area that North is currently looking for a roomie, and I think the realtor has more available in that general location. PM me if you haven't landed a place yet and are interested, I'll forward you some info/put you in touch.

Hey y'all. Anyone know any good websites to get UVA Law stuff (car decals, license plate frames, tshirts, cups)?

I got hooked up with school swag for Christmas. I think it came straight from the bookstore website but I'm sure you can find it cheaper elsewhere online.
