For real? Nice. I grabbed some OF "Budweiser Bleachers" tickets, since they're GA and bleachers are generally the most entertaining seats (definitely true at OAK Coliseum and AT&T park at least). Hopefully I can get there early enough to score some of these bad boys too:P-salms wrote:Count me in. Also, bulls Knicks game that same night if anyone's interested.cwid1391 wrote:Me too! I'm down to go. My flight lands at 5 though. I usually only care about baseball but always wanted to see a Bulls game.

I probably won't get my Cubs tickets until the day of. Especially if a bunch of us are going, we could meet up outside Wrigley and get seats together. Maybe in the bleachers to accomodate those who have already bought theirs? I don't know if Bulls games sell out or not so I'm at someone else's mercy on that front. I'm very down for that too though.
Edit: Missed the bit about bleachers being General Attendance. Will probably go ahead and buy a Budweiser Bleacher ticket as well.

I hope all of you properly root for the Giants.
FYI: For the Bulls game, I'm not sure how much you care about missing the Thursday diversity reception, but I'd try to not miss the Regents party (on the schedule) and Bar Review after that (not going to be on the schedule). Both events will be awesome, well-attended, and you'll have the chance to meet a ton of current students. Plus BR is going to be in Old Town, which is an amazing area. You'll have tons of opportunities to do Chicago sports next year, promise.

I'm down with Cubs game + BR rather than Bulls, but I'm not a NBA guy so YMMV.Smumps wrote:I hope all of you properly root for the Giants.

Also, I don't see the Regents party on the schedule.

The Regents thing isn't an official ASW event. But it will be happening.cwid1391 wrote:I'm down with Cubs game + BR rather than Bulls, but I'm not a NBA guy so YMMV.Smumps wrote:I hope all of you properly root for the Giants.

Also, the Diversity Reception is definitely something that everyone should feel comfortable attending. Most years most of the admitted students show up for it, and it is a great chance to meet a lot of faculty. You should plan your weekend however you want (so if catching a Bulls game is important to you, go for it!) but I think that reception is pretty fun and a good chance to meet your future classmates and your future professors.

To current students (or Regulus b/c I know you're bringing your wife too): what events will it be kosher to bring my wife to? I'm looking in particular at the thursday evening reception, the pizza event friday, and anything on saturday since we'll be out of the hotel by then. She's trying to figure out how much time she'll have to kill on her own.

Yep, as in Regents Park Apartments. My guess is they will host it at the Summit Club, coincidentally next to my apartment. It's a cool space with a great view.Regulus wrote:"Regents" as in Regents Park Apartments, or is there some other Regents? (In the event that it is Regents Park Apartments, will the party be held in that poolside area or something?)Emma. wrote:The Regents thing isn't an official ASW event. Thursday evening reception should be totally fine, people bring SOs to that all the time. She may get asked if she's an admit, but that'll happen all weekendWhiteyCakes wrote:To current students (or Regulus b/c I know you're bringing your wife too): what events will it be kosher to bring my wife to? Looking ahead to the academic calendar, it says orientation is Sept 3rd-25th (tentative). There is no way orientation is that long... or is it? haha

When calculating COA, are you guys including money made from 1L summer/2L SA? If so, what number are you using for 2L SA (I am unsure of what take home would be from a market SA)?
Also, to current students: is it difficult to find a job 1L summer that meets the requirements for the $5k stipend?

Did everyone get an email from a current student? It didn't necessarily seemed tailored to me, but it might have been.

Re: Chicago Law Class of 2016
It's like 6 days or something, it was the week immediately before classes so probably like the 20th-25th. They were talking about adding in some sort of team building retreat beforehand next year so idk if that will pan out, but it might add a day or two.jsjd1989 wrote:Looking ahead to the academic calendar, it says orientation is Sept 3rd-25th (tentative). Don't count your 1L summer money, it will barely offset your rent and food costs for the summer and will in no way lead to less loans taken out during the year (unless you get a 1L SA, but it's unreasonable to bank on one)florida1949 wrote:When calculating COA, are you guys including money made from 1L summer/2L SA? It is not difficult to find a 5k paying job, especially if you put in the time to get applications out over winter break/early winter quarter.
Those of us who signed up were given your name, school, major, grad year, and hometown, so your email was tailored as much as it could be given that info haha.cwid1391 wrote:Did everyone get an email from a current student? It didn't necessarily seemed tailored to me, but it might have been.
You all should definitely feel free to email your person back though, it's real people on the other end who want to answer questions.

Re: Chicago Law Class of 2016
I think its better to be conservative and leave it out. Then again for those of us borrowing large amounts we are fucked if we don't get a 2L SA. But if youre comparing schools it'll be the same everywhere.florida1949 wrote:When calculating COA, are you guys including money made from 1L summer/2L SA? Just add 5K to your total cost-of-living loan amount, divide by 12, and that is your monthly budget.florida1949 wrote:When calculating COA, are you guys including money made from 1L summer/2L SA? If so, what number are you using for 2L SA (I am unsure of what take home would be from a market SA)?
