Yeah, I wish there was more information than just this: --LinkRemoved--. I guess it's still a ways away, so maybe I'm being unreasonable.

What are you looking to know?
I'm mostly interested in whether there will be time to meet with the Financial Aid Office. We're going to have to commit to a school soon, so I'm starting to look to the next step: LOANS... I'll have to look into the timeline for loans this weekend. Anyone have experience with them? I have to admit that I do not.

Basically, fill your FAFSA out as soon as you can. You will need your tax info, but not your parents (if applicable). For grad school, you are an independent student. The generally give you enough loans to cover tuition + cost of living (which I believe is on the website), and then you can choose what you want to accept.

Thanks for the pointers!

As for the symposium, is anyone else getting into town on the 21st? My train gets in around 6. I'll probably get dinner and check out a couple of the bars after that, if anyone else is interested in joining me.

Got admitted on 2/7 (my birthday, so that was cool), submitted on 2/1. Still waiting on the mailed info and crossing my fingers on a scholly offer. I haven't heard back from any other schools yet, so far too early to be sure where I'll end up, but I've decided that researching W&M is better than refreshing Status Check every 5 minutes.

Congratulations on being accepted! I feel your pain when it comes to other schools and their application processes. I applied to most places in September, thinking it was good to get in front of as many applications as I could. I don't think it's made a bit of difference. If I had known that, I probably would have taken the December LSAT last cycle, and I'd already be in law school.

Are you planning on visiting W&M over the next couple of months?

For those of you going to the ASW, are you planning to stay over on Saturday night? I'd really like to go out and check out the area, but I wasn't sure if most people head home right after the event ends.

The Hospitality House ends up being $98 on Saturday night with the law school discount (you can just enter "LAW" as the coupon code).

I'm set to stay Saturday night right now. That said, I'm going to the law review symposium this coming week, so I'm not sure whether I will end up going or not.

Hello! Checking in here - was admitted in early December, and W&M has become my top choice primarily for financial reasons. I borrowed wayy too much money to pay for undergrad and can't afford to be taking out any more loans, and W&M has offered me the most scholarship aid. That being said, the more I look into the school, the more I'm excited about the prospect of going there...will be heading down from NYC for ASW on the 22nd.

I'm heading down to Williamsburg in a week because I can't make it to ASW. W&M is close to the top of my list, so I'm looking forward to it. I'll check back in afterwards and let people know how it went.

I am going down for a visit on Friday, March 1st and sitting in on a 10 am class after a 9 am tour. Luckily they have morning classes before everyone leaves for spring break.

If you haven't made your plans yet, I probably wouldn't come on the 28th or the 1st. A lot of professors have cancelled Thursday and Friday classes to give us a longer break so there probably won't be many students around. Just a thought.

Unfortunately that weekend is literally the only one I have free to visit before deposits are due (I am coming up from SC so I can't make a day trip out of it). Do you think Thursday is at least a better option than friday or does it make little difference?

Admissions office said they double checked with the professor of the 10am class and she was still going to hold it. This is the only weekend I can make it down, anyway, so I don't have much choice.

If it's the same con law class that I observed this past Friday, you should be pretty excited. I had never been to a law class before, but I am pretty sure that most of them aren't as dynamic and engaging.

visited/toured the campus yesterday. got a chance to sit in on a class (property law) and check out the surrounding area including some apartment complexes (I'm not committed yet but I figured it was important to see some options). Definitely got a good vibe from the campus. The student body seemed friendly and the professor I saw was entertaining and knew his material. just thought i would share!

So I decided to stick with my plan to go to ASW. Is anyone else gonna get there early Thursday night?

were you in the 2:00 property class with a tall-ish bald-ish man in a big lecture room?

yup - that's my class. prof. kades is really nice, he used to be a dean of the school - he hosts lunches (free pizza!) for students throughout the semester to get feedback on his teaching, what students like, what could be improved, etc. I think that it's great of him to take time and really listen to his students.

I sat in on this same prof's class today. The energy was great and there was some fun banter back and forth between teach and the 1Ls.

I'm {redacted}, currently from {redacted}, though not originally, and after today's visit I'm pretty close to 100% positive that I will be attending in the fall. Has anyone seriously considered housing yet? I heard the Pointe town houses near New Town have a lot of law students.

I'm going the ASW this week, and I'm going to start seriously looking while I'm there. Although I won't be visiting any potential apartments, I'm planning on taking pictures of the ads in the student lounge and asking current students where the best deals seem to be. After that, there's always Craigslist. It worked well enough for me in NYC. And with all the other 0Ls at this ASW, maybe I'll be able to avoid rooming with complete randos, although I've made that work in NYC, too.

In the admitted students portal there is a housing bulletin!
