Google maps says from that Crowne Plaza you can take the 30 bus to UPenn (~30 min) or the 52 bus to light rail (~44 minutes).
I hate Philadelphia already.![]()
I just keep checking back with the decently-priced hotels on the UPenn list and hoping someone will cancel.
Would you take the Crowne Plaza in the "boonies" ($119+ tax per night) or out by the airport ($162+ tax/night)?
Thanks for all your help.

Yeah, sorry about your time crunch, but the bus should be fine from the non-airport option. Just plan a lot of extra time, I don't know how accurate the buses are out there. They should be fine.shntn wrote: Definitely not the airport option.

Keep waiting. The scholarship committee said it's on a rolling basis up to the deposit deadline, and as people withdraw for HYSCCN, I expect more money will open up.one_by_one wrote:Have any more merit offers gone out recently? That's what I tell myself, anyway.

For those following my hotel saga, there was a cancellation at the hotel I originally wanted (one of the more affordable ones on Penn's list, in Center City) so I snatched that up. Hurrah!

Hey guys, I'm on the Penn waitlist and I'm polishing my LOCI. Would anyone be able to give it a glance over?
One or two-sentence critiques would be more than sufficient.

Okay less than a month ago I received an email saying that I received aid from Penn (around 40-50k). Now, when I checked their financial aid website I see no record of this award.
Should I be freaking out?

e-mail scholarships@law.upenn.edu. They'll sort it out for you. Hopefully the e-mail was accurate!Jpreece59 wrote:Okay less than a month ago I received an email saying that I received aid from Penn (around 40-50k). Now, when I checked their financial aid website I see no record of this award.

I just checked mine and it has disappeared as well. I think they're probably updating something. Maybe verifying our tax returns?Jpreece59 wrote:Okay less than a month ago I received an email saying that I received aid from Penn (around 40-50k). Those are due by the 15th, but I think the more likely explanation is that awards are being adjusted. Mine is gone, too, and it was definitely there at COB today because I've been incessantly checking for the past few days. (The grant still shows on the worksheet tab, though.)cgw wrote:I just checked mine and it has disappeared as well. I think they're probably updating something. Mine was adjusted recently, so in my case, I doubt it. I'd take it though.shntn wrote:Those are due by the 15th, but I think the more likely explanation is that awards are being adjusted. Are all of you talking about non-named scholarships or merit aid? I am getting worried that I might not be getting any help from Penn. Do they usually send within a certain time period after acceptance?

Same problem with my aid. When Iog into the financial aid website they sent and click on the 'decision letter' it is not a rejection letter. However, when I click on the 'financial aid worksheet complete' tab and look at the need based grant section under financial aid, it shows the amount I was originally awarded for my first year. I am pretty sure this means that we are still offered the need-based grant but it would definitely calm the nerves if they would give me back the offer letter.

Well now the site just won't let me in at all. It says my account is inactive.Nickg415 wrote:Same problem with my aid. I believe we are all referring to financial need grants. My merit aid still shows up.Hopefullyfuturelaw wrote:

No, they usually send out initial offers between the end of March and early April (regardless of when you were admitted), but aid offers can be given/adjusted up to the May 1st Deposit deadline. If you don't hear within a week or two, you might try speaking with financial aid. I have no idea what the process is for named scholarships though.

Who has had luck negotiating with Penn for aid so far? What other offers at what schools did you use?

I got accepted back in Feb but still no word on scholarship.
Anyone else still have no idea whether or not they are getting money?

At least now you don't have to be curious about what you would have gotten! A Michigan 2L called me last night to chat about the school, even though I had already withdrawn the day before. Only a little awkward.one_by_one wrote:Lol @ Penn sending me info about merit aid hours after I withdrew
