I'm "starting" it at six but should be down earlier to set up. You're probably leaving earlier than that though.rinkrat19 wrote:What time?onionz wrote:For anyone not on the Facebook group, we're doing a bbq Friday at mcclurg court for anyone already around. Rink, feel free to come by too!
I have to fly to Nebraska for the weekend (grandparent memorial service) on Friday so I might not be able to make it, but otherwise I'd definitely stop by and say hi.

I will likely be quietly rocking back and forth in a straightjacket by that point due to 8 interviews in a row on Friday.

So we all ready to start calling soda "pop"? Is that still a thing...?

Don't assimilate. Keep your regional quirks. Unless you call everything 'coke' no matter what it is, because that's retarded.KremeCheez wrote:So we all ready to start calling soda "pop"? Is that still a thing...?

My family is Russian, so I've dealt with continental quirks for most of my life

I'm from the midwest. I remember once when I was flying int'l on Lufthansa as a child, I told the German stewardess I'd like a pop. She looked at me funny. Scarred for life.rinkrat19 wrote:Don't assimilate. Keep your regional quirks. Does anyone know of a good men's hair salon near NU/Loop/LP that's not too expensive? All these places are like $50 and I'm looking more like $25--$30 and someone that actually uses scissors

You probably need to get out of Streeterville/the Loop to find anywhere cheap.jn7 wrote:Does anyone know of a good men's hair salon near NU/Loop/LP that's not too expensive? All these places are like $50 and I'm looking more like $25--$30 and someone that actually uses scissors

Mr. Barber (silly name I know) is excellent. It runs about $40, but is worth it. Peter is a really nice guy who knows how to cut hair.jn7 wrote:Does anyone know of a good men's hair salon near NU/Loop/LP that's not too expensive? Thanks for recs. I'll check out Mr. Barber and also might make the trek a little more north. If you see someone at orientation with a mullet you'll know I made the wrong choice

Ahhh another Southerner. I'm safe. Can we complain together about how cold starting it is starting in mid-September?Bloomsie wrote:Oh, I see we're going to have problems.rinkrat19 wrote:Don't assimilate. Keep your regional quirks. Someone pointed it out on the facebook group. It's like 20 pages total, PDFs are on the orientation page. Definitely not a big deal.LRGhost wrote:lol wutonionz wrote:Orientation reading??Micdiddy wrote:Any gunners do the orientation reading yet?

Re: Northwestern Class of 2016
PM me the info (deactivated my FB for OCI) and I might swing by. I have a mock-callback practice interview after CCBA is over so I don't know yet how long that will take. Also, I might be all socialized-out at that point. But I do love you n00bs and I'll do my best to swing by and say hi/possibly bring over some dessert (:Cobretti wrote:I think we should invite scarlet and crumps too.onionz wrote:For anyone not on the Facebook group, we're doing a bbq Friday at mcclurg court for anyone already around. Hey all, I just signed up for internet with Comcast. Anyone know if I need an extra wifi router to get wifi in the house? Or does the modem come with a wireless function. Thanks!

Mine never did in Oregon, but Comcast uses lots of different hardware.pammie0415 wrote:Hey all, I just signed up for internet with Comcast. Anyone know if I need an extra wifi router to get wifi in the house? Or does the modem come with a wireless function. Thanks!
