So there are all these classes "open to first year students" on Caesar for the first semester. Do 1L's actually take these on top of their required courses?

No, 1Ls can take those classes second semester, since you guys get 2 electives then. They aren't open to 1Ls during the fall, they just use the same class descriptions for fall and spring.Micdiddy wrote:So there are all these classes "open to first year students" on Caesar for the first semester. Can someone give me a rough estimate of when we get our section assignments?

Are you talking about the following PS from the email?pammie0415 wrote:I got the email too. But I won't be in Chicago until the 15th..cookiejar1 wrote:Google docs is sooo 2011. It's time to throw together a Google Site.
On another note: did everyone else get the JumpStart Preview & Preparation Program e-mail? Don't know anything about it other than the e-mail that they sent me. It's tuition free, which is nice, but it takes place over August 5 to August 7 which is when the Law Preview program also takes place (Aug. 5 to 10).![]()
The email did say that you can only participate in one or the other too. So it's either JumpStart or Law Preview.
To me it looks like it's a separate program unaffiliated with Law Preview. And truly only the most loserish among us would do both the Law Preview and this other NU Summer Law Preparatory Program. . . . I can't wait to sign up.P.S. As Northwestern Law students, you will all receive a separate invitation next week to apply to our Northwestern Summer Law Preparatory Program, an intensive week-long introduction to law school learning that takes place the week before NUSL orientation. These programs are mutually exclusive - if you are admitted to participate in JumpStart you will not be eligible to participate in Summer Law Prep and vice versa. Both provide excellent introductions to law school!

Ohh, you're right. I didn't read it very carefully the first time around. But yah, it does look like it's a completely different thing.cookiejar1 wrote: Are you talking about the following PS from the email?

If the JumpStart program that takes place a week before orientation is free I expect EVERYONE HERE to be signing up for that so that we can all casually pretend to pay attention during the day so that we can seriously focus all our attention on happy hour in the evening . . . every day for a week.

Maybe link to the 3Ls taking Qs thread? And a general timeline of the shit you have to turn in (I dont know if this applies bc IDK if there's anything due) or important dates, like when school starts/when sections come out/etc etc? Other than that I got nothin. Y'all don't have too much to worry about right now, enjoy it. My Google Calendar for the next 2 months looks like a rainbow shat on it.Cobretti wrote:anyone have any other ideas to update OP with?

I have a kickass outline for Allen's civ pro that I made way back in the day. Any of y'all who ends up with him shoot me a PM and ask me for it sometime.

Just got off the waitlist! Psyched to be at NU this fall...
A lot of football talk here, but is there any interest in a fantasy hockey league?
Anyone have any housing suggestions? I won't be arriving until a few days before orientation so I need to figure this out remotely. StudentSpace didn't have anything for under $1000/months (yikes). Is Craigslist the best way to go?

I really like https://www.padmapper.com/. You can check out craigslist listings as well as a bunch of other sites all aggregated onto one map, and the filters are really great too.KFV wrote:Just got off the waitlist! Psyched to be at NU this fall...

Re: Northwestern Class of 2016
Anyone need a roommate for next year? I'm traveling and would like to lock something down before I get to Chicago in mid to late august. Consequently I'm pretty flexible, mostly just want a place within 25 min of campus via public transit that's ideally less than $1200. Enjoyed 3-5 roommate situations a lot in the past so that would be a plus. PM me if interested.
Best,
Jacob

If you only want within 25 minutes of campus and are willing to pay $1200, there's no need for a roommate.yackob wrote:Anyone need a roommate for next year? Haha touche. I actually like having roommates so I don't really want to pay the studio premium if I can avoid it. But I know some roommate situations near school will still cost up to 1200 and if they seem solid I'd pay that.
