Yes. And just for those of you who aren't already aware,
you do not need to set up an appointment for your internet service provider (MDU Communications is the provider of the free Internet at Regents) to come out (it costs $50) if you already have your own cable modem; just call them and let them know the MAC address located on the bottom of your modem and they should be able to authorize it via the phone.

THANK YOU BOTH. These tips are fucking clutch.
Also, I would very much like to meet Gus.

Re: the internet. To be clear, if you have your own modem you do not need to call them two weeks in advance like suggested earlier? You can just call them when you move in and get it set up?
Re: Chase. Can you do that over the internet, or do you have to do it in person?

Either way. Here's the link:
https://www.chase.com/ccp/index.jsp?pg_ ... 00_frdm_lg&
There are a couple conditions (need an initial direct deposit, but an ACH transfer will do the trick).
That modem is also on sale for $71 on Newegg using code WALLET:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 267&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=
AFC-C8Junction-_-cables-_-na-_-na&Item=N82E16825390001&cm_sp=
I have the older model of this modem already (SB6121) so I'm just going to use that and hopefully it'll be sufficient. And yeah they said you can just call them and give the MAC address and they'll set it up. No $50 fee.

Just checked out those floors and they definitely have the renovated hallways. Things are looking good for you guys... I suppose Regulus and I wouldn't mind sharing our luck of the Irish with you all as well

P.S. South 5th here.
Edit. Oh yeah, I never got a welcome packet as well. When I later asked management questions they told me to refer to the welcome packet. I told them I never received one and they looked at me like I was nuts. Make sure you call and assure you'll receive one; hell, have them e-mail while you are on the phone. You may be left high and dry if not. Good thing we are all helpful on here.

Apparently mine's unrenovated.

Think I might call tomorrow about a swap.

Yeah... unfortunately, I am not sure how many renovated ones they have available.
When are you planning on moving up here?
Next week!

Check out the 37th floor of the South Tower. Not only is it our favorite green scheme, it has pieces of painted ply-wood nailed to the ceiling to cover some apparent holes and it doesn't have the fancy ceiling lights...yikes! Also, the Summit Club is interesting, sure as hell doesn't have a pool table like the website claims it has and the entrance to it is one of those "is this really it

" moments.

Huh, it used to. I know for a fact I played drunken pool there a few years back. Definitely a weird space, though.

If anyone hasn't signed a lease at Regents yet, I'll split the $250 referral reward with you! I have no shame, hit me up.

Regulus wrote:Another random question for you folks already in Regents, but do you all also only have 1 coaxial cable plug in your apartments? I thought I covered the one up in my bedroom with furniture by accident, but it looks like my place (a 1-bedroom apartment) literally only has 1 of them, and it is in the living room. I guess I need to buy a decent splitter so that I can get teh Interwebz and watch TV??
The guy who comes to set up the internet, though I think you opted out of that lovely experience, does provide a splitter. Also, I live in a two bedroom and every room has a coax outlet: master, office and living room.

Thanks for that info Regulus. That explains a lot because we were at a pathetic 1.2 speed and called them...they upgraded us for no additional charge so that we could hit the 10 instead. They claimed my family is in a "dead spot" but now that you mention it, it is probably the low quality splitter.

Whoa, are you saying my internet speeds could be significantly improved if I bought that $8 splitter?

Just a final PSA to say that we'll be meeting tomorrow (Friday) at 8pm, at my place. Please do come if you can, and feel free to bring SOs (my husband will be there). It'll be a nice, low-key way to get to know folks before the year starts.
If you'd like to join us and need directions, just PM me.

We'll have to have another get-together sometime in August once some more TLSers have moved up here!
+1 to everything

I'd offer my place as a get-together spot but it's kinda tiny to have a lot of people over
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
