I've chosen Cornell, they definitely put the best offer on the table. Will definitely be looking for housing options during ASW next week.

Lower collegetown is, in my opinion, the best balance of cost/ distance. And finding a roommate can work out really well as long as you're a normal person and vet them properly. I've really loved living with my roommie- one of my best friends here.Estef_22 wrote:I was wondering about this too...Looks like Collegetown is really over-priced for what you get. And living with roommates (to keep costs down) seems pretty risky for 1L. Any thoughts from people that are knowledgeable about Ithaca housing?sf88 wrote:For those who are pretty sure about Cornell, where's everyone thinking of living?

I might get flamed for posting this, but I just saw this on the daily sun and wanted some input from current students.

Arbiter? Indicative of a good sum of the class or an outlier? To rofl or not to rofl, that is the question.

The majority of TLS seems to have the same sentiment regarding going into a lot of debt at a T14+ law school. Not really sure how this article applies to Cornell though.MrShneebly wrote:I might get flamed for posting this, but I just saw this on the daily sun and wanted some input from current students.

I mean it sounds eerie...but the 45,000 graduates who apply for 25,000 jobs includes Charlotte School of Law and that bogusness...right? If its 45,000 out of all law schools and more than half get jobs...I'm not entirely worriedMrShneebly wrote:Written by a 3L. Define "lots." This goes counter to my impression. I knew three out of maybe 50 who went empty-handed at AJF/OCI and at least one of them now has a firm job. Naturally, people who don't have jobs are probably not shouting it from the rooftops, but "lots" seems inaccurate.johansantana21 wrote:Lots of unemployed 2Ls here.

Re: Cornell Law Class of 2015
Thanks guys. I thought the article did rehash a lot of points made frequently on this board, and it's a little more disconcerting from a 3L in light of the most recent NLJ percentages. However, it seems like OCI has picked up quite a bit.
This is only semi related, but I saw that Willkie Farr is hosting a bagel breakfast on campus for 1Ls soon. That is awesome.

Unfortunately you could both be right. You could know lots of people with jobs and he could know lots without them. But I would also like to hear a number. IF you say something like that specifics are helpful to us anxious 0L's.....Lincoln wrote:Define "lots." This goes counter to my impression. Did Cornell fall to #11 because of unemployment? Or because more of the class of 2011 didn't want biglaw? Anyone know?Arbiter213 wrote:Look at the NLJ numbers. Class of *2012 was the first doing OCI after the crash. What do you think?msblaw89 wrote:

I'm dumb and forgot what year it is.

Probably a mix of unemployment and clerkships. I'm class of 2011 so I can speak to this a bit. Also, I do know that a number of people have gotten jobs (many with large firms) after graduation.msblaw89 wrote:

For what it's worth, I think that as compared to some of its peers, Cornell is pretty bad (which I guess is good?) at gaming these statistics. I know people at NYU, Duke, and Northwestern who have told me some of the schemes their career services employ (like setting up temporary post-graduate unpaid internships with NLJ 250 firms and then counting those towards employment stats). Cornell doesn't game the system like that. I'm not sure what the rest of the T-14 does, though.
Ultimately, I think rankings of any sort need to be taken with a grain of salt and looked at overtime. Overall and across time, the bottom half of the T-14 (PBVMDCNG) will continue to place comparably in biglaw, with some differences as between particular firms and particular regions.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
