Anderson's a nice guy and a pretty good teacher. Come to class prepared - or learn the material outside of class at some point - because he'll indulge answers he knows to be wrong or irrelevant, and he'll leave unanswered questions that do have answers in the casebook.
The exam is short and shallow.

Also, anyone willing to sell old books and such for these courses?

Effron is new and visiting from Brooklyn. Sharp is also a recent hire (within the last year or so I'd guess), haven't heard anything.
Goode is terrific on Evidence. I assume his Crim class would be good as well. Schiess is widely liked and is among the best in the LRW department. Both are excellent draws for 1L year.

Graglia is the school's most notorious conservative. Class will be typical lecturing on SCOTUS cases with editorializing about how SCOTUS is stupid. Exam is likely to be idiosyncratic, asking you to regurgitate his right wing views.
Youngdale is pleasant but not particularly memorable as a prof. You could do worse for LRW.
I believe Gerhart is visiting.

Yeah, I googled Graglia and knew that his exam was going to be on the extreme end of "write what your prof wants".
Hopefully, Gerhart will post to practice exams/model answers from wherever he's from (Case Western I think).
It doesn't sound like I'm going to have cool/ballin profs but they don't seem horrible either.

Re: UTexas Law Class of 2015
I would disagree here. Schiess is the most self-important professor I met 1L. He pissed a lot of people off this Spring with his ill-thought out brief prompt too. Then again, it's only LRW.lurkylurk wrote:Schiess is widely liked and is among the best in the LRW department. Both are excellent draws for 1L year.

Graglia is charming, and yeah, the class is a lesson in his ideology. He'll likely give you a healthy dose of his articles - study the shit out of them! And if he does Brown, well, he wrote a book on it, so it won't hurt to read a few chapters (it counted for something like 1/3 of our exam and I missed every class on it; the book can really help you). His office is always open, and he'll give you good feedback as long as you have something to say.
If it's your five credit class, being clear and concise will go a long way on your case note. He's also crazy for dashes.

If Anderson's Torts book is this book
http://www.amazon.com/Cases-Materials-T ... 0314906878
then I will sell it for $75. Currently I see the lowest amazon used price at $100.

I've got Anderson's tort's casebook as well. It's the newest edition that came out last year. I believe robertson and wellborne use it as well. I'll sell it for $70.
Edit: The book has highliting (I don't rainbow brief. Each case only uses a single color highlighter) and notes in the margin.

Anybody get some of their books through the Coop before? I accidentally clicked "Ok to substitute" and it cost and extra 50 or so. Anyway to get them to get me used books instead of new ones?

I used them for undergrad every sememster and I believe the "ok to substitute" option gives them permission to give you a new copy if there are no used ones available. You may want to check out Amazon to see if they have used copies for whichever titles the co-op didn't.eaper wrote:Anybody get some of their books through the Coop before? Yeah, I think that's what happened. They were cheapest on all the ones I got, if I could get the used. =\ Thanks for the input.amoricaorbust wrote:I used them for undergrad every sememster and I believe the "ok to substitute" option gives them permission to give you a new copy if there are no used ones available. I am interested in the E&Es you have and the flashcards if they're still available.
Also - what supplements are people getting? Is there anything aside from the textbooks listed that I should definitely get right now?

Yeah, where is the activity on this thread it is only the most important thread on TLS.
Can we bring a cat (significant other) for the mandatory orientation? Do they have a fish option?
Also, where is the best place to get practice tests from professors?
