Orly? Hm...I hadn't thought about that, but it sure would make me happier...what company are you using?

Stevens Worldwide Van Lines. I figured the opportunity cost of me not working for 5 days and not paying for movers to pack me is greater than me working and paying for the movers to do everything. If you think about the total cost associated with moving, it actually (in my case) ends up being cheaper to pay for someone to do it than to move with U-Haul or the like.

If I could figure out a way to lug all my stuff across the country, I would so be doing this...leaving a nice flat screen tv, couches, my wonderful bed...ugh.
If you decide to go the U-haul route, try to get quotes from the various rental companies (U Haul, Penske, Budget) and then call them back and try to get them to compete with one another. Anecdotally, I found Penske trucks to be in better condition than the U-Hauls. I have never used Budget.

If working 5 days would offset $4500 worth of moving costs I would definitely not be going to law school. Hahaha

Anyone wanting to go to the March 15th preview weekend and who is currently on the waitlist for hotel. I found a double at
http://www.lamppostinn.com/ for $56 a night. Would anyone want to share the double, that way it would come down to about $28/ night which is almost the same as the hotel subsidized by Michigan for preview. We could also split transpo costs to and from the hotel from the university (I think it's like 2 miles away) PM me if any of you are interested for more details!

When you sign up, it tells you how many seats are still available for each preview weekend. If it did not say anything about a wait list when you signed up, then I believe you are set and have hotel accomodations reserved. However, for those who have yet to sign up, you will see that preview weekend has a wait list. I called the admissions office and they said there is no cap for preview weekend itself, only for hotel accomodations. So you can still attend but have to find your own hotel...

I can't make the second preview weekend so I'm gonna need to find my own hotel.

Ah okay. Thanks. Hopefully we get specific info soon.

By fun, do you mean lugging all of my shit into a storage unit and then driving 5 hours to get more stuff and do it again? If yes, then HELL YEA PARTY.

For me the problem with the first preview weekend is it's the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. I'm thinking I might have to skip an event or two.

I think I may have missed it as well. But it wasn't from a MI area code, so I assumed telemarketer?

They haven't called me yet... but I did make a special request, so maybe that is delaying the phone call? I feel left out.

Since the middle of my day is busy, chances are I will miss the phonathon call. It didn't come today, but I would've missed it today too.

Does anyone know how generous Michigan is with need based aid? I called the FinAid office to see what the range of awards was or if there was a cap. The woman I spoke with seemed almost uncomfortable with the question and would only say the need based aid doesn't go all the way up to full tuition. Not so helpful. Just wondering what to expect...

I called a bunch of people for phoneathon - those who didn't answer got messages. We used our own phones, so that would explain the non-MI area code.
Phoneathon continues tomorrow, so those of you who weren't called today, don't fret.
