As far as housing, I did not live on campus. They've recently remodeled, so I think a bunch of the rooms are nicer now, but I was 26 when I came in, and I could not imagine sleeping on a twin bed again, nor of putting my things in storage. Most people seemed to like their roommates, and it does allow for easy socializing. However, the three luxury buildings near school (Mass Court, 425, and Meridian) are all about 50 percent law student anyway. People often split a one bedroom with sunroom at the Meridian. It's not much more expensive than the on campus housing that way, and the building is much nicer.
I personally live in a studio in Southwest. It takes me 15 minutes to get to school, I have hardwood floors, utilities included, and I pay about 600 dollars less than my friends living near school do. However, the area has no nightlife. If you're comfortable with that, apartments are not actually hard to find. Most of my 2L and 3L friends are either in Dupont or right near school in the aforementioned luxury buildings.
