I completed FAFSA and Need Access which lists the requirements for each school. There isn't another form according to their checklist. But it wouldn't surprise me; there's always another form in financial aid...ScrabbleChamp wrote:You completed the UMich financial aid form? At least the year I started, they didn't use a separate form. You'll get an award notice by email telling you what you're eligible for. Then you go on Wolverine Access and accept your scholarships and whatever loan amount you want.Sammy841 wrote:I completed FAFSA and Need Access which lists the requirements for each school. Also, FYI in order to have your loans direct deposited, you must sign up under the employment section on Wolverine. It's hidden.

Question about Need Access: If I'm an independent student and already paid my deposit to UMich (that is, I don't need to submit anything to any other school), is Need Access required? It just seems stupid to me to have to pay to submit a form that UMich already has (my FAFSA).blowhard wrote:At least the year I started, they didn't use a separate form. I'm already pretty "out" as far as TLS is concerned but there's been mention of a Boston Area Brunch for admitted students. Here's the FB link.

I don't know the answer to this but the Need Access form was significantly longer and more specific than FAFSA so I would assume they want some of the info off of it in addition to FAFSA. But you could always just call.

Just looked at the availability and the 1L apartments are really filling up! I'm worried they'll be gone by the time I'm read to deposit. Does anyone have an experience with the University Towers complex on S. Forest Ave?Lady in Red wrote:Me too!!! I didn't like the idea of moving into someone else's place (with all of their stuff) in May, then moving AGAIN in August. I called Mariya at Prime Student Housing (734-761-8000), the very cool lady who is in charge of the 1L apartments. She told me that some of the subleases are for students who are actually moving out permanently in May -- and thus, there's the option to stay on in the apartment after the summer. So I'm moving into 520 Packard in May and staying there through 1L (and possibly 2L and 3L, if I like the place enough).
There were NO apartments like this available in Forum, but there were a few in Packard and I think a few in some of the others. Also, even though the apartments themselves are $1000/mo, the subleases usually go for less. At the time I was looking, I think one in Packard was going for $800 or so, but that was in December...I don't know if it's still there.
Also, even though the apartments come furnished, they are letting me request an unfurnished bedroom so that I can bring my own bedroom furniture.
I'm excited about being a 6 minute walk from the law school and living with other law students. Plus, the 520 Packard apartments have huge windows, so they are bright and sunny, which is a big deal to me.
Hope to have some summer starter neighbors!

AFIK, you only fill out need access if you want to be considered for need aid or are asked to. I know I've never filled it out.Sammy841 wrote:Question about Need Access: If I'm an independent student and already paid my deposit to UMich (that is, I don't need to submit anything to any other school), is Need Access required? I don't know if I'm being paranoid but I see most of the one bedrooms in the reserved buildings are already gone. Thinking about getting a 2 bedroom in Packard and then doing the speed roomate dating thing at ASW. I mean I should be able to find a roomate before next August right?

Yes. Some people were still looking the first week or two of school because stuff fell through, they broke up with their bf/gf, etc.Sammy841 wrote:I don't know if I'm being paranoid but I see most of the one bedrooms in the reserved buildings are already gone. Sammy - I was feeling the same way and called Prime to discuss that option. They said as long as you are living with another law student who is approved by the school, you can add them to the lease at a later time. Hope that helps!

Congrats... but... what took them so long... didn't you get admitted way back when? Did they initially offer you a different amount, or nothing at all and you requested funds? And (sorry for all the questions, I'm just very curious as your specific case does not seem to follow the same path everyone else has had so far), is it exactly $20k/year, or is it the $22.5k or $18k? I wasn't aware they did $20k/year as an amount.thelawschoolproject wrote:I just got 60k to attend Michigan.

<3 Hermione, it'll happen soon, although there's another poster who has the same tar...lame-o.
I was admitted in December, and not given any award.
In January I received a significant scholly to a peer school and then earlier this week I wrote to Mich saying I'd like to attend but I had another great offer. Two days later (that day being today) they wrote me back and offered me the 60k.
I <3 Michigan.

$0 to $60k in a flash... Awesome. I should have not withdrawn from peer schools and told Mich I'd only attend on a full Darrow... oh, silly me.thelawschoolproject wrote:ScrabbleChamp wrote:Congrats... but... what took them so long... didn't you get admitted way back when?
