this thread has been pretty dead, so i thought i'd spice things up with these two little tidbits.

1) it was just brought to my attention that one mr. jerry springer is an alum of NU law. i say we start petitioning to have him as our commencement speaker now.

2) my 80 year old father is apparently itching to go to chicago (by himself) to scope out the cool areas to hang out. i will be sure to keep everyone posted as he uncovers all the hot spots.

Just got an invite for a diversity luncheon at ASW. Wording makes it sound like only "diverse students" and those with family/kids are invited. As such, mystified. Did anyone else get this?

I got it too...but presumably, Asian could = diverse? Could just be a massmail though.

Apparently people who RSVPd for ASW got it. I was briefly afraid I had accidentally mismarked myself on the application and thus mistakenly been awarded a scholarship... although on further consideration my interview with staff should have sorted that out.

Also, in reply to basilseal, I RSVP'd very early on to ASW, so I don't think it's as simple as everybody who said they were going got the invite. Definition of "diversity" is definitely different than URM though, so I wouldn't worry about anything in regards to scholarships.

This is the case. Been invited to quite a few different diverse student events at schools even though I'm not a URM.

Cant decide whether I want to attend it or not. Its a free lunch, but it doesn't really interest me too much. hmmm

So I figure I'll jump in with my first post at this point. I was pretty well set on NU as my top choice from the start, and had not expected to get in (95% work experience not in my favor as I'm coming straight out of undergrad). Needless to say, the excitement at getting in has NOT worn off, but now this whole Scholarship business has completely thrown me for a loop that I hadn't even considered. I've gotten great offers from slightly lower tier schools (USC, Vandy, UCLA, WashU), and now a solid one from Duke, all of which make them seem pretty appealing in ways they hadn't before. Anyone else sitting around waiting for NU's painfully vague "late March" to get here? (The 20th is late isn't it?) Misery needs company, and I'm 100% sick of these loose deadline waiting games that plague the application process beginning with the LSAT. Also, no one wants to talk about law school that isn't going, so I'm trying my luck here.



Finally, does anyone know if they offer deferred admission scholarships less than the 150k ones I keep reading about (pretty sure I can safely count myself out of that based on the lower scope Duke's offer)? Well anyway, I REALLY REALLY hope I'll be joining you all in the class of 2015, and I hope this post isn't too out of nowhere.
